Stiles woke on Saturday morning to the smell of bacon cooking. He rose out of bed and wandered down the stairs to see his mum by the oven, and his younger sister sat at the table eating a bacon sandwich.
"Morning." He said walking past his mum, and going to join his sister at the table.
He ruffled her long brown hair as he sat down.
"Morning you" Stiles said cheerfully, his sister giggling.
Ally was 7 years old, and Stiles' favourite human in the whole world. Her kindness, humour and sass never failed to put a smile on his face and he could trust her with anything in the world. When their dad died Ally was the only one who could lift Stiles' spirits.
"You want a bacon sandwich?" asked Stiles' mother.
"Nah, I'm good." Stiles replied, leaving the table and making his way back to his room, grabbing a glass of orange juice on the way.
When he got upstairs, he quickly made his bed and hopped in the shower.
"God, i need to get a haircut." Stiles muttered, as his wet hair flopped over his face.
He got out of the shower and ran the blowdryer over his hair, so it wasn't dripping down his back, and gave himself a spray of deodorant.
He walked out of the bathroom to see Ally sat on his bed, looking at some of his drawings.
"Who's this?" she asked, looking up from a drawing of a pale red head with green eyes.
"This," Stiles started, "is a new at school, a very beautiful new girl"
Ally smirked at Stiles. "Stiles has a crush! Stiles has a crush!" she teased.
"No! No I don't" Stiles remarked, hoping he sounded more convincing to her than he did to himself. He walked over to the bed and picked up the drawings, putting them on his desk, away from Ally.
"Okay" Ally said, sarcastically, as she left his room and ran back downstairs.
Was it really that obvious? Stiles thought to himself as he slumped back on his bed.
For an hour or two, Stiles was doodling. He was going to go to the treehouse but he couldn't be bothered for the walk, so he just stayed in his room.
At about 1:00pm his mum poked her head through his door.
"Stiles, Ally wants to buy some new toys with her birthday money," She started "But I'm really caught up with work right now. Could you-"
"Yes, i can take her." He interrupted, knowing exactly what she was going to say.
"Thank you." His mum replied, and then she was gone.
Stiles sighed and slipped on a jacket, and grabbed a pair of shoes.
"Come on munchkin" Stiles called, across the living room. " Got your money?"
Ally nodded and jumped up, running towards the door.
Stiles picked Ally up and put her in the passenger seat of his jeep, before getting in the drivers seat and making his way towards the mall.
He parked up outside the entrance to the mall and tired off the engine.
They made their way into the first shop, where Ally was looking at Baby Annabelle accessories. They made it out of that shop pretty fast, she obviously already had her eye on something.
It wasn't until they were on the third or fourth shop, where Ally was looking at barbie dolls, when he saw her.
At first he thought he was imagining it, but when he saw the 5'3 red head looking frantically around the centre of the mall, he was sure that it was Lydia.
Stiles couldn't believe it. Lydia just seemed to be everywhere that he was at the moment. But what was up with her?
Ally clearly noticed that Stiles was distracted by something , and when she looked up, she seemed as if she had found hidden gold.
"Thats the girl you like!! Thats the girl you were drawing!!!" she exclaimed, practically jumping up and down.
Stiles quickly turned her around and moved them to a more hidden place.
"Okay, yes you're right Ally, that is the girl in the drawings but just shut your mouth okay?" Stiles snapped. " Look, somethings bothering her, i need to see if she's okay, so promise you'll stay here okay? I'll be back real soon."
Ally nodded and carried on looking at the dolls, and stiles rushed out of the shop.
"Hey, Lydia?" He called out.
This obviously startled her a bit, because she jumped at the sound of her name.
"Stiles? oh my god you scared me" Lydia remarked.
"Yeah i can tell." Stiles mumbled. " Lydia are you okay? You look really frantic"
"Nope." Lydia sighed, as she sat down on a bench, putting her head in her hands. " Look, its a long story though. I don't want to worry you with it."
" Hey, hey Lydia, look at me. I don't care what has happened, the only thing that would bother me is not knowing whats up and leaving you like this." Stiles said sympathetically. "I've got to take my younger sister home, but why don't you come with me, tell me whats happened and i'll try help you- okay?"
Lydia looked up at him, her eyes locked onto his.
"Really?" she questioned.
"Of course." Answered Stiles. "Just wait here a second, Ill go get my sister." And then, he rushed off.
He payed for Ally's toys and led her out of the shop.
"Don't you dare say anything, you got me?" He said.
Ally gave him a smirk. "I got you."
