for the following days, harry can't breathe.

the only way he can inhale even the smallest amount of oxygen is when he's with louis.

his anxiety is getting worse.

a lot worse.

and he can't quite understand why until louis brings it up.

they're laying on their backs next to each other on the flowers, both of them staring up at the blue sky and the white clouds that hang low enough to decipher some shapes, the air is fresh and clean around them.

their hands are barely touching, but harry feels safe and secure with just the feeling of the heat of louis' hand on his, because having louis close to you is better than not having him at all.

"fucking blobs," harry mutters, more for himself but loud enough that louis hears.

"huh?" louis hums, craning his neck sideways to look at harry.

the sunlight is hitting his face, highlighting his nose bridge and part of his lip. also, making his green eyes look brighter and glassier, accentuating the specks of gold that dance around the inky pupil.

louis holds his breath.

"the clouds," harry explains, his pink tongue darting out and licking his lips, leaving them with a coat of shine and a smooth, red surface.

louis exhales, biting his lip because, damn.

"it's all blobs and unsure shapes," harry continues. "while we might see an old lady riding a roller coaster, some

kid in china might see an alien with a beard. it's all indefinite."

louis rolls over on one side, resting his head on his hand.

"does it bother you?" he questions.

"yeah," harry sighs, nodding his head. "a lot."

"why?"

"because I like things to have a concrete meaning. it-it frightens me when I don't know what something means. i'm just not normal."

"they're clouds, harry." louis says softly.

"that's exactly my point. a normal person wouldn't get like this over clouds." harry says, rolling over on his side as well.

harry presses his eyes shut. "it's getting worse, lou."

"what is?"

"me." harry says. "i'm getting worse."

louis reaches over and tucks a piece of hair behind harry's ear. "no you're not,"

harry opens his eyes, confusion evident in them. "what?"

"your anxiety is getting worse, harry, not you. not all of you."

"how did you know about that?" harry asks, his voice shaky.

"it isn't that hard to tell, love." as soon as the words leave louis' mouth, he has the urge to somehow push them back in.

"shit..." harry shakes his head, his eyes screwed shut. harry's holding on to the ground like someone is trying to push him off, louis has a guess it's himself.

"hey, hey, harry, love, are you okay?" louis asks, his eyebrows pinched together because he thought he had pushed a button but it actually seems like harry pushed one himself.
