Celeste
To me, a new school year means a new start. I decided to stop looking for love, and instead let love search for me. My friends always approaches me for relationship advice, and I do think that I am able to help a lot. So it fustrates me how I can't find a person I could easily fall for. You could probably call me a hopeless romantic.
With my backpack on my shoulder, I stepped into my school, Winston High School. My eyes searched for my childhood friend, Ava McCall. I was only able to spot her when I saw a group of guys surrounding her.
Ava had always been pursued by men. Together with her stunning appearance and her charming personality, she's practically irresistable. It was a huge wonder why she decided to turn every one of them down.
"Celeste! There you are!" Ava shouts loudly, waving her hand as she made her way towards my direction. She gives the boys a quick wave before linking arms with me.
Those boys swooned.
"How was your summer, babe?" Ava asks. Her heels made an addictive clack each time she took a step. Her smooth, strawberry blonde hair swayed side to side as she walked.
I offered her a small smile. "It was normal. I stayed in my room most of the time. How were you? You visited Japan, right?" I questioned. Her eyes lit up and she grinned.
"It was great! I loved their food the most. I also love their accent! That reminds me, I bought you and Angela something." She says in a rushed manner. Ava never runs out of energy. She plays volleyball.
"McCall! Farris!"
We both turned around. It was our somewhat close friend, Angela Brown. She was running towards us, her lips curled up into a bright smile.
"How was summer, girls?" She inquires. She wraps her arms around us, giving us quick hugs. I wrapped my arms around her in return, feeling awkward.
"It was fine." I curtly replied. At the same time I spoke, Ava replies with a short, "I had tons of fun!"
"Hey, didn't you hear that there are three new students? Rumours said that they're so damn hot." Ava whispers, pretending to fan herself with her hands.
I laughed softly, rolling my eyes at her. "I bet they'd go after you, Ava. They always do." Angela teases, nudging Ava's side gently. Ava simply smiles without saying a word.
That's another thing I love about Ava. She knows that what Angela says is true, but she doesn't deny it. She doesn't brag about the number of suitors she has, but she doesn't 'degrade' herself or fool herself by acting 'clueless' about it.
"Hey, look! That's Jaxon Grey. He's the one with soft brown hair and blue-gray eyes. Doesn't he make you swoon, Ava?" Angela whispers, sneaking glances at him. Angela nods firmly in approval after giving him a full body inspection.
Angela comes off as mysterious and snobby to people who doesn't know her well. But deep down, she acts similarly to Ava. Her bright smile only appears if she's really happy or relieved.
"He's attractive. But not my type." Ava's nose crinkles up and her eyebrows scrunches down together. Angela slightly frowns, but accepts her answer.
"No effect on you, Celeste?" Ava questions.
I shook my head. "Nope. I told you, I gave up on finding a person I could fall for. Besides, the new guy doesn't give me butterflies, if that's what you call the feeling." I told her, shrugging my shoulders as we watched the crowd of girls eye Jaxon like a gold medal.
"Oh! That's Nick Greene! Isn't he fit? Now that's the type I go for. Look at those mesmerizing eyes. Don't you agree with me, girls?" Ava rambles as I notice her face turn slightly red.
