Celeste
Spring Fest is getting closer and closer. I'd be lying if I say that I wasn't nervous. Anyways, I got ready this morning and headed to school. Instead of having a peaceful walk to class, I was surrounded by my friends.
"What's up?" Ave bluntly questions, narrowing her eyes at me as she blocks my path. My jaw dropped as I stared at her. Was she always this straightforward?
"What do you mean, Ave?" I forced a timid smile onto my face.
"Stop the act, Celeste. We know there's something bugging you." Ava frowned, her eyes assessing me.
I chuckled, shaking my head. "Ave, I'm fine. Let's go to class or we'll be late." I insist, my smile fading as I got tired of faking it.
"Spill." Ange demands.
I snapped.
"Who are you to tell me what to do?" I growled, glaring at them.
Everyone's eyes widens at my tone and reaction. Ava steps up and everyone became alert. When Ava's mad, she's mad.
"What the f*ck is your problem?!" She screams, catching everyone's attention.
"And you're asking me this? Why the f*ck are you even sticking your nose into my business?" I shot back.
"Because you're my friend! You don't expect me to care?"
"Of course I expect you to care, but when I need space, you give it to me." I glowered, taking a step closer to her.
"Cel," Jaxon murmurs, restraining me by holding my arms.
"Ava, Celeste, c'mon. You girls should-" Zane starts, stepping in between of us.
"Don't tell us what to do, you asshole." Both Ave and I snapped at him. The crowd starts hooting and yelling, causing us to stop and calm ourselves.
"Cel, I'm sorry. I was being nosy." Ava sighs, shaking her head.
"No. It's not your fault." I sighed, massaging my temples before turning to the crowd. I faced them and scowled, "What? Do you not have your own lives?"
Everyone hurriedly left, doing what they were doing before this happened. "Wow, Celeste can act... tough if she wants to," Nick mumbles, approaching me.
"My dad died." I bluntly stated.
"W-What?" Ave asks.
"He died on the day you planned to visit him." I shrugged, trying to act as nonchalant as possible. I did not want to show them my vulnerability.
"Is that why you had a panic attack once I bought your dad up yesterday?" Zane inquires.
"Yeah..." I nodded, glaring at him.
"I'm... sorry. I didn't know. It was a touchy subject and I kept pestering you." Ava guiltily apologizes, looking at me with sympathy.
Jaxon stares at me, his eyes holding multiple emotions I couldn't decipher.
I shook my head. "What's done is done. Dad died and there's nothing I can do about that. It's just like what happened with Vanessa." I mumbled.
