Celeste

I woke up early and ate my breakfast. My mom visited my dad in the hospital. The other day, I visited dad after I went to the carnival with Nick. The doctor said that dad might wake up some time this week, but if he doesn't, then his chance of waking up will get lower.

"Sis, you're almost late." Matt yawns as he glances at our clock. I looked at the time and hurriedly grabbed my bag, leaving my plates for Matt to wash.

"You owe me one." He laughs.

I slipped on my shoes and ran to the car. After school, I'll be heading to the mall with Matt. I have to shop for clothes, shoes, and more. The Spring Fest is drawing closer and I don't want a last minute preparation. I wanted to go with Ave and Ange, but our schedules collide with each other, so we have no choice but to go separately.

I got in and started driving. I am scared of driving for two reasons. One, I don't want to crash into a person or another car. And two, I don't want a car to crash into me.

I drove exactly at the maximum speed limit and got to school almost on time. I parked the car as nicely as I can and stumbled off into class.

Luckily, I arrived on time. I scrambled to sit on my seat. Jaxon was already seated behind me and Ava was already seated beside me. Angela turns from her seat and gives me a questioning glance.

"What happened? You're usually early." Ava asks with a smirk.

I sighed, placing my bag down. I took out my notebook and my pen, using my fingers to comb through my messed up hair.

"I didn't notice the time go by, so I took my time eating. I had to drive myself here." I grumbled, forcing a tired smile onto my lips.

"That's rare." Ange comments.

"I saw you post a picture on instagram. You went out with Histon?" Ava questions with a giddy smile. While they were talking amongst themselves, I turned around and faced Nick.

"What's your plan?" I inquired, resting my chin on my palm.

"I need your help. Come with me to the library during our break," he instructs with a slightly flirtatious smile. I pressed my lips together in thought before nodding my head.

Jaxon shoots me a curious look. "What are you going to do?" Jaxon questions, leaning forward.

"I will be helping him with something," I answered.

Jaxon looks dissatisfied with my answer but leaves the matter be. "Eat lunch with me," he casually invited, a slightly mischievous smile popping up on his face.

I frowned. Was there something he needed from me? "But I'll be eating with Ave and Ange." I informed him, frowning more.

He purses his lips together, looking slightly desperate. "They'll be fine with it." He retorts, glancing at my two friends.

"It's fine with us, Cel." Angela nods.

I turned to Ava and she smiles, nodding her head too. "Fine. Only for today," I told him sternly. He grins and nods immediately.

I subtly looked at Nick and he was staring at Jaxon, looking almost pissed. I turned back to my two friends, joining in their conversation. Our first class started and I put all of my attention towards our teacher. I've always gotten good grades, I wouldn't want it to suddenly drop.

"Miss Farris, you've gotten top marks once again." Our science teacher, Miss Dawson, announces in front of the class. A few people clapped and a few gave me a pat on the back.
