The save haven which I thought I had was now ruined. I walk into find Sophia sitting there on my bed. Messing with her hands as if she was waiting for me. Intwining her fingers one into the other she seamed so distracted I was surprised she saw that I came it.
"So I hear your getting married." She really likes pressing my buttons doesn't she?
"No I'm not Sophia. Mother and Father said I don't have to get married until I'm 17." I would hold my parents promise close. That I would not have to get married until that date.
"Oh, so I don't get to wear a gown?" A wave of sadness came over her. Whenever a Atrian woman wear a gown or "dress" it shows a it is special event.
That is what she was so excited for! She wanted to wear a gown. Uh who would have thought.
"Sophia," I walked over to her and gave her a hug "you will one day wear a gown. Just wait until your birthday you get everything you want then. I'm positive you will wear a gown then." The fact that she was going to be five in six days was crazy. Then four days later I would be six. We have lived in harmony for almost six years. My parents stayed on top of it. Holding meetings and events to hold the peace. I was just wanting my parents to tell me everything was going to be ok. My parents could not tell a lie. In fact we didn't know if one thing said in a simple joke could set off our nemesis. We had to keep our ground. Always be ready to leave. Have our things packed and in a save pod ready to leave. Leave the pod we have always lived in. The beautiful lagoons that we had learned to swim in. The forest were we learned to hunt. Our family and friends. Even Teri. I guess I would miss her.
What am I saying! I would never miss that slug of a girl! Yuck!
"You really think Roman? You think that Mother and Father would let me wear a gown?"
"Yes Sophia." I roll my eyes at her.
What do you think I have been trying to tell you you ding bat of a sister?
"Ok great I'm going to ask right now!" She started to run to the door. I jumped on her stopping her from reaching the doorknob.
"No! Is late at night. Ask in the morning when you feed."  The fact is that would be the best time to ask. Mother would try to get her work done and Father would look over the laws to make or fix. It was the perfect plan to get what you wanted.
"Oh. It's ok I'm sure they will not mind." She wiggle herself half way free before I pinned her down.
"Promise me you will not go see Mother and Father right now. Nothing will happen to your precious metals around your fingers if you do so." She looked at her hand then back at me. Like there was an actual choice. She knew if Mother and Father found out that she had broken one of them that she would be locked in her room.
"Roman! Come on don't be a looser!"
"Then how am I looser when I'm clearly winning Sophia?" I had beaten her at her own game. She rolled her eyes at me and in a stuck up voice said
"I Sophia promise to not go and ask Mother and Father right now." She looked like she had just saw a child die.
Wow dramatic much?
I got up off her and pushed her out the door  I returned to bed jumping into it like a young child. Before I knew it I was sound asleep hoping that Sophia wouldn't go wake up Mother and Father.
