Chapter 10

Roman's Birthday - part 2

I tried to open my eyes. The darkness still held me close. I could hear noises calling me.
"Roman, Roman open your eyes." The voice beconed me. Voice sweet as dessert. I opened my eyes to see a bright light. Although my eyes where open all I could see was white.
"Roman!" I felt as Sophia jumped on my body. I knocked the wind out of me. I quickly sat up holding my stomach in pain as Sophia gave me a hug. "I thought you where dead!" I laughed at my sister hugging me. "What! Why are you laughing at me?"
"I'm not laughing at you. It's just that you said you thought I was dead!" I laughed as Sophia just stared at me. My face fell "What?"
"Roman? How long did you think you where a sleep for?"
"I don't know two, three hours?"
"Roman you where out for 3 weeks"
"What are you talking about where is Mother and Father?"
"They are in a meeting."
A meeting I think not
I took in my surroundings. I was in a all white pod. It looked nothing like my pod.
"Sophia?"
"Yeah Roman?"
"When did we get this pod?"
"Roman you really don't remember anything?"
"Sophia all I remember is that we where attacked and taken. You're scaring me where are we?" All she did was gawk at my blank features. After not responding to me I began to become frustrated. "What little princesses can't talk?"
"This is not a joking matter Roman." She fiddled with her hands I could tell she was hiding more then what she was letting on.
"So I'm in hospital?"
"Yes and no." Sophia did not make eye contact with me. Almost as she looked like she is guilty of killing a bug.
"What are you not telling me Sophia?"
"Okay look we are long gone and we are not going back. There is nothing you can do." Panic began to build up inside of me.
"We are gone. From home I mean."
"Okay? I do not follow."
"We are in space!"
"Space?"
"Yes! The home of the stars! The gate way to the sky! We are no longer trapped! We are free!"
Why must she try to lie. "Sophia you know it's not right to lie."
"But Roman I'm not lying!"
"Yes you are!"
"No I am not!"
If I just let her think she won maybe she will drop the whole 'We are in space thing'  "Fine we are in space." I rolled my eyes. I was beginning to be sick of this conversation.
"Yay, I told you Roman!"
Yeah, yeah what ever; will you shut up for a bit my head hurts!
"Roman come on get out of bed we must go and find Mother and Father!"
Why! Why can I not stay in bed for the rest of my life!
Not wanting to get in terrible trouble I rolled out of the bed and just down to the ice cold tile. With ever step we took I could hear a little splat as we walked down the white, abandoned hallway. Above our foot steps, I could hear the hum of an accelerator. We approached a door that had writing all over it. It looked like a protective barrier. Now I'm not saying I agree we are in space but if we were, why would we need a barrier?
  "Roman, Mother and Father are in there of their meeting is over. So try not to make them mad yeah?" All I did was simply nod I didn't want to start anything with Sophia seeing how she thinks we are in 'space'. When we entered the pod we saw my parents arguing once again.
"I told you! I told you they would come!" My Mother yelled into my Fathers face.
"How was I going to know that they would come and try to kill Roman!"
"You are one of leaders here so start to act like one."
"Don't tell me wha.."
"So bad timing?" Their faces snapped to Sophia and I. All of the sudden they came and gave me a hug. Like a actual hug? It felt weird seeing how I never remember getting family hugs like this, but hey I will go with it. WAIT space. Sophia said something about being in space. I pulled away quickly after that thought.
"Roman what are you doing?" My Mother voice sounded hurt and lost.
"Explain why Sophia thinks we are in space."
