It's Better If You Don't Know the Truth (Unfinished)

Chapter Four- The Present

"Mom! I don't want to go there with you!! I'm old enough to walk around this mall without you supervising me!!" I complained.

"Who knows who is in this mall here!! You might get kidnapped!"

Good thing no one from my school is here! That would be totally embarassing! And especially near my birthday!! That would be terrible!

Just as I thought that, a familiar face popped up.. "Hey! Justine! Over here~" called a voice. I immediately recognized the voice-- It was Brandon!!

I tried to pretend that he wasn't talking to me. Unfortunately, he decided to get a closer look and ran behind me. "Justine!! It's me,  Brandon!"

Apparently, my mom noticed and said, "Hey, your friend is talking to you!!" So I had no choice but to turn around and face Brandon.

"Hey, so is it your birthday soon?" Brandon questioned.

"Yeah, how did you know?"

"I heard it from your friend Krystal."

"Oh..."

"Is there something you wanted for your birthday?"

In my head, I was going My birthday wish is to go out with you! but instead, I said, "No.. Nothing in particular that I want.."

"Oh, alright! Well, see you at school Justine!" Brandon said as he walked away.

The day was finally here!! It's my birthday! I'm turning thirteen years old today! It was so hard to believe.

At school, all of my friends told me "Happy Birthday!" or gave me a present. :) I was surprised when some people that I didn't talk to gave me gifts or wished me a happy birthday.. The most surprising thing was still yet to come..

After school, I heard someone yelling my name. I turned around to see Brandon running towards me.

"Hey, Justine! Wait up!"

"Okay.."

"I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday!", Brandon gasped for breath. "Also, I got you a present."

Brandon handed me the most beautifully wrapped present I had ever seen. I guess that's why he asked me if it was my birthday soon..

"It's not much, but I hope you have the best birthday ever!"

"Really? For me? Gosh, thanks.. I didn't know you were gonna give me a present for my birthday! What a surprise!"

"Of course it's for you and I asked if it was your birthday soon so that should've been your first clue.. And you're welcome. Do you have any plans for today?"

"Hm.. Well, I'm going to Krystal's house to celebrate my birthday.."

"Oh, is that for the whole day?"

"Yeah..."

"Oh, well that's too bad.. If you didn't have any plans, I would've invited you to come over to my place. My mom would love to meet you. I've told her lots of interesting stories about you."

Instantly, my face turned red. "W-W-What? You told your mom about me?"

"Yep. It seems like a lot of interesting things happen around you.."

"Oh.. Well, um, I gotta go! Thats for the present! See you at school!!"

Did he just invite me to his house? I wanna go! But of course, my mom wouldn't allow me to go. She things that I'm too young to date or even to be at a boy's house! Oh well.. I sighed. Hm.. I wonder what's in the box.. I'll open it when I get home.. 

I was getting ready to open Brandon's present. I tried guessing what would be inside, but none of them seemed realistic enough. I carefully untied the bow and then opened the box...
