I could tell that something anonomys.. I went home and hollered, "MOM! COME DOWN HERE!!" When my mom was downstairs, I started asking her questions.

"So, do you mind telling me the TRUTH now??"

"Um, honey.. I-I don't know what 'truth' you're talking about.." She gave an awkward laugh.

"COME ON! YOU KNEW ABOUT THE MIC AND CAMERA INSIDE THE BEAR DIDN'T YOU?!?!"

"Alright, alright." She took a deep breath. "Yes, I was included in the scheme."

"SCHEME? TELL ME." I ordered.

"Alright.. Well, you see.. Um.. You''re actually a fortune teller."

"A fortune teller? PSH.. Like I would believe that.. Be serious, Mom." I scoffed.

"Think about it.. You had that dream that came true. That's how you're a fortune teller."

"Hm.. No wonder I felt like you were lying to me when you told me it was just a strange coincidence..."

"That's another one of your powers. You can tell how someone feels or when they're nervous by their behavior or by their voice.

"Oh.. I see.."

"Those are one of the rarest powers ever in the world of magic. Only one out of every 1,500 people born with magic in their blood is born with fortune telling powers. So please.. Use your power wisely.."

"You still haven't told me about the scheme you were talking about."

"Okay. Onto the scheme.. We wanted to protect you from.. HIM...  So we secretly put a camera and mic inside the teddy bear, to make sure you were fine.."

"Who's the 'him'?"

"Everyone calls him 'The Shadow Lord'..'

"Well, is he dangerous??"

"Yes, from the rumors I hear, he uses people for some 'experiments' which always fail.. In other words, he's trying to murder innocent people. Other rumors say that he takes people to a secret room, and they NEVER come back..."

"You don't know if that's really true..."

"True, but that's the only reason to explain why the people disappeared.."

"Okay.. So.. In order to keep me 'safe' from this Shadow Lord dude, would you mind telling me how he looks?"

"I'm afraid I can't answer that.. If I saw him, I wouldn't be here.."

I lied in bed, thinking about what my mom told me. Was she telling me the truth? But I couldn't sense that she was lying.. If she was lying, I can't tell whether she's lying or not because I wouldn't have '"fortune telling powers". I drifted off to sleep thinking about if my mom was telling the truth and whether I should believe her or not.

When I got to school, I was feeling a bit light-headed. I didn't let that bother me becoming the Student of the Year.

At break, I decided to look for Brandon to ask him if he was included on the "scheme" and if he had magic powers too.

I finally caught sight of a tall, skinny blonde-haired boy. I ran up closer to Brandon until I noticed he was talking to Mrs. Tenney, the principal. It looked like they were having a serious discussion, because Brandon's eyebrow was furrowed.

I decided to wait until they were done with their conversation, or else Mrs. Tenney might think I'm rude and won't pick me as the Student of the Year.
