So, it's been a while since my first imagine (over a year!!!), but I'm back with another one! Because it's a lot longer than Kiss Me Better, I have decided to upload it in two parts, just so there's no endless scrolling.

Part One

It has been two months since your last physical encounter with the mysterious Severus Snape. Although you work within the same school; passing him regularly in corridors, eating together on the professors' table in the great hall, neither of you have plucked up the courage to converse on what happened that one night. The night when everything seemed to be against you, but swiftly turned in your favour after a kiss from a certain potions professor. So, here you are, left in a state of uncertainty with your feelings towards Severus. However, one factor which you are almost certain of is: if you do not witness the same man you saw that glorious night again soon, you will become insane from suppression.

Yet, it seems that you will be forced into surrendering to insanity, since the deterioration in Severus' mood.

Already known to be a strict enforcer of good behaviour and plenty of homework assignments, it has become common knowledge to the professors and yourself that Snape had been losing his temper more frequently in classes, handing out more detentions and ridiculing students' attempts of making potions that were far too advanced for their capabilities. Your students are also Snape's students, and they have recently been professing their upset and hatred of the professor to you. Although you want to disbelieve this, you can tell something about Severus has changed. He used to comply to your small talk in the great hall and greet you sincerely when crossing paths. But presently, he has been replying with fewer words, ignoring your salutations, even avoiding eye contact with not only you, but with most of the professors. Only headmaster Albus Dumbledore can hold a conversation with him for longer than one minute.

This must change.

It is your turn to cheer up the potions professor after he succeeded in lifting your spirits only a few months ago.

Your goal is simple. Procure a genuine smile from Severus Snape. A smirk, a simper, even a twitch of his lips will satisfy you. All you need to do now is to think of how you can achieve this. It will not be easy, that's for sure. But will it be worth it? Of course it will!

So, as you walk down the great hall for breakfast with your habitual warm, friendly smile beaming for all to see, you prepare to enforce plan A of the day: throw some puns into your conversations with the professors. Even if you are not able to directly speak to Severus, it is more than likely that he will hear you.

"Good morning all" you chime as you take your seat at the head table whilst gaining lots of greetings in response. However, it is only now that you realise that there is a flaw in your plan which you did not expect to encounter. Severus is nowhere to be seen. This is very peculiar as he is always at the table before you, or before anyone else in fact. Curious as to where he is, you ask the other professors if they know why he is late compared to usual. Yet, no one can answer your question, they remain as clueless as you.

With only ten minutes left of breakfast, you become worried. So, you decide that you will leave the great hall early to find him. Nevertheless, as you go to stand, you spot the man you have been waiting for, striding down the middle of the great hall to take his seat next to yours. Once seated, you greet him cheerfully. However, worry manages to sneak in and lace your words. Severus can tell you are concerned and so he dismisses you coldly, stating that he got held up with some marking, which is obviously a blatant lie as he never leaves any marking to do for the morning before lessons commence. Either way, you decide not to question his false excuse and proceed to cautiously revisit some conversations with the professors around you.
