Once sitting on the sofa, Devon leaned back and took a sip of her wine and looked at Dylan over the rim of her glass,
"The truth is Dylan..." she started seriously, "when you left here last night I felt like maybe you blamed me for Max's action's, maybe not outright but enough for some resentment, then when I hadn't heard from you yet this morning, I went to see him."
Nodding, Dylan took a drink of her wine and studied Devon for a minute, "Go on." She finally said.
"Having been married to the man for a few years, I know a few secrets, so I told him if he didn't back off, I might have to accidentally let something slip." She replied with that small secret smile.
Leaning back, Dylan took another drink before saying, "Well, he did lift the quarantine, but he said he wasn't done hounding me yet."
"He's like a dog with a bone when he sets his mind on something, but at least he'll do it by the book next time." She told Dylan.
Feeling her pulse speed up just watching Devon sitting so close, Dylan smiled, "I suppose I should be grateful but the fact is, this puts you smack dab in the middle of your husband's vendetta for me."
"Ex-husband," Devon corrected, and then set her wine glass down and took Dylan's hand in her soft ones, "and darling, I was in the middle of this the minute you and I touched."
Leaning forward, Dylan set her glass down as well before turning her attention to Devon and kissed her lips lightly, "You're something else, you know that." She told her smoothly.
Closing her eyes, Devon's lips parted beneath Dylan's taking in her soft warm tongue, "I'll take that as a good thing." She whispered under Dylan's mouth.
"Thank you for your help." Dylan finally said, and when Devon opened her eyes she immediately felt her hormones surge as she could see her beautiful green eyes had grown a shade darker.
"Why didn't you just take his deal,"? She asked softly, reaching up to touch Dylan's face gently, "you could have been home free, Max would have stopped harassing you and you could have run your business without him breathing down your neck."
"Because," Dylan responded with a half-smile, "I'm not quite done with you yet."
Standing up slowly, her hand still in Dylan's, she looked down and pulled her gently up beside her, "Well, do you think we might could start from the beginning again"? She asked sexily.
Feeling butterflies in her stomach, Dylan laughed lightly and asked, "Don't you have to go to work or something"?
Leading Dylan upstairs, Devon smiled provocatively, "My work for the rest of the day is pleasing you."
Two hours later as they lay in each other's arms thoroughly satiated, Devon rubbed Dylan's chest lightly and said,
"Thank you for turning down Max's offer."
"Nobody tells me who I can see," Dylan stated truthfully, "Just promise me one thing."
Looking up into Dylan's eyes, Devon smiled dreamily and said, "Anything."
"Whatever else may come up with the restaurant or club...you'll let me handle it, I don't want you involved anymore." Dylan told her.
Leaning up on her elbow to search Dylan's eyes, "You know I was only trying to help, right"? She asked seriously.
"I know that babe, but from here on out the restaurant and your ex, is my problem." Dylan told her emphasizing the ex part.
