Cristina's POV:

I grabbed my luggage from the airport and went to the hotel to meet up with Meredith. We were in Boston for the Harper Avery Awards. I was so glad that she came to see me witness winning this award as I'm fairly confident that I'll win it this time. I wanted my best friend to be there see me accomplish what I've always dreamt about.

Although I was happy that she was going to be there, I was a little upset that Owen never even called to congratulate me. Like everyone from Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital called to congratulate me except for Owen. He probably is still getting over what happened when I was last in Seattle. I just really hope that didn't ruin his marriage because he was happy and I wanted him to be happy.

Anyways we got to the hotel and got ready for tonight. Meredith helped me try to put my dress on but things didn't go so well.

Meredith: Geez... Cristina did you gain weight? I can't zip this up.

Cristina: You're not serious. It fit fine a couple of weeks ago.

Meredith: Well it's not now.

Cristina: Just great. What I'm I gonna do now. I don't have an extra dress and I don't have time to go find another one.

Meredith: Well luckily for me, I brought an extra dress.

Cristina: Meredith, you are a lifesaver.

Meredith: Well... I am your person.

Cristina: You are definitely my person.

Thankfully the extra dress Meredith brought fit me perfectly. It even looked better than the one I had. I knew I could always count on her. I guess this means though that I need to start working out again because I don't need to be fat.

We got to where the dinner was to be and everyone was asking me questions about the 3D printed heart transplant. It started to get overwhelming for me so I ran to the bathroom and Meredith saw and started running after me. Once I got to the bathroom, I broke down in tears and Meredith came in and hugged me.

Cristina: Mer, what if I don't win?

Meredith: Don't say that. You're gonna win.

Cristina: But what if I don't. I'd feel like a failure for losing for the second time.

Meredith: You're going to win. I just know it.

Meredith wipes the tears away. She takes a letter out of her purse and hands it to me.

Meredith: It's a letter from Owen. I'll give you some privacy while you read it.

Meredith leaves and I open the letter.

Dear Cristina,

Congratulations on the Harper Avery Award nomination! I tried to call to congratulate you but I couldn't work up the nerve after what happened last time we saw each other. Anyways, all your hard work is finally paying off. I just knew that one day you would make it. I couldn't be more proud of you. I hope you enjoy every moment of this huge accomplishment because it may never happen again.

                                    ~Owen

I wiped the tears from my eyes after I read the letter. It was so sweet and thoughtful that he did that. I just wish he could be here. I wish he was still my husband and he could be here cheering his wife on, but he's remarried and I'll never be his one true love. It's sucks but I have to accept it.

With that I walked out of the bathroom and went to sit at my table with Meredith. We sat quietly as we listened to Catherine Avery speak. After a long speech, it's finally time for her to announce the winner. I grab Meredith's hand and hold it tight.

Catherine: And the winner of the Harper Avery Award is... Dr. Cristina Yang.

Meredith smiles and applauds. I'm just in a daze. I couldn't believe I just won the Harper Avery Award. Meredith practically had to push me up the stairs to receive my award. Throughout my whole speech, I didn't even know what I was saying. I was in shock. All I ever wanted finally happened. I was holding a Harper Avery Award in my hand. It felt like a dream, but it wasn't. It was real. It was completely real.
