You make me feel invincible
Earthquake, powerful
Just like a tidal wave
You make me brave
You're my titanium
Fight song, raising up
Like a roar of victory in a stadium
Who can touch me cause I'm
I'm made of fire
Who can stop me tonight
I'm hard wired
You make me feel invincible

Cristina's POV:

I got back to the Zurich, and I felt like I was on top of the world. When I arrived back at the hospital, there were reporters everywhere wanting to interview me about the 3D printed heart transplant. All the attention was on me. It was all I have ever wanted. Now all I want is that Harper Avery Award, then I would definitely feel like I am the best surgeon in the world.

Once I'm done with all the interviews, I meet up with Shane to get caught up on everything I've missed while I've been away.

Shane: Congratulations! I new you would make medical history someday.

Me: Thank you. How was the hospital while I was away?

Shane: Everything was fine. I need you for a consult though. I think I might have found a rare tumor in a 67 year old male.

Me: It's probably not a rare tumor but I'll go take a look at the scans.

Shane gives me the scans and I am completely shocked. It is a rare valvular tumor.

Me: Wow you did find a rare tumor. It is a perfect tumor that is found in equal distribution of the among the four valves.

Shane: So do we operate?

Me: I can but it is highly unlikely he will survive, but if we don't do anything, he'll die for sure.

Shane and I go to inform the patient.

Me: Hello George, I'm Dr. Yang, and you must be?

Sarah: I'm Sarah, George's wife, is he okay?

Me: Unfortunately, we found a rare tumor in your heart valves.

Sarah: So how do we fix it.

Me: I could operate, but it's a risky procedure and there could be a chance that he could die, but if we don't operate, he will die at some point.

Sarah starts to cry and George tries to comfort her.

George: Honey, it's okay.

Sarah: I'm not ready to lose you.

Shane: Sorry to interrupt, but Dr. Yang is the best Cardiothoracic surgeon. You should really let her operate.

Me: It's still very risky.

George: Let's do the operation.

Cristina: Okay then. An intern will be in very shortly to prep you.

Shane: You are in very good hands. Nothing's going to happen to you.

I walk out of the room and pull Shane over to me to talk to him. I was mad at him.

Me: Shane, it is not your right to promise a patient that he will be fine.

Shane: But you just did the impossible. Your Cristina Yang, you can do anything.

Me: Yes I am very good at what I do, but I am not God. I can't decide whether he will live or not. That is God's choice.

Shane: I am so sorry Dr. Yang.

Me: You better be because if he dies, you are going to be the one to inform his wife.

I walked away from Shane. I was so angry at him for promising a patient that he will be fine. That is something that you should never do. Even if it's a simple procedure, there is still a chance that something can go wrong. Anyways I need to go practice for the surgery.

Shane's POV:

Later on I walked into George's surgery to see how he was doing. I was still extremely confident that everything would be fine, but as I walked in I heard,

Cristina: Charge charge paddles to 200!

Me: What happened?

Cristina: He started coding! Still nothing. Push one of epi and continue doing cpr!!

I push through all the nurses to help.

Nurse: He's been down for almost 20 minutes.

Cristina: I don't think there's anything left to do.

I continue doing cpr even though everyone stopped working on him.

Cristina: Shane, he's gone.

I still keep doing cpr.

Cristina: Shane!!! Stop it. There's nothing else we can do. He's dead.

I take my hands off of him.

Cristina: Time of death, 14:23.

I leave the OR. I was extremely upset. I didn't want to have to go tell the wife that her husband is dead. I thought Cristina could do everything, but I guess she can't. I guess you can't always save everyone.
