After a sleep plagued with nightmares of long teeth and claws, Trixie awoke to a loud whoop and a stabbing pain in her left temple.  Two vampires boys about her own age were scooping up chunks of jagged gravel from a nearby path and obviously trying to aim them at her.  That must have been what hit her.

"That one hit her on the head!  Fifty points to me!"  Cried one

"Nah, not fair!"  Cried another.

They both stormed off in opposite directions.  Trixie's eyes glanced down at the sharp piece of gravel that had dropped to the cage floor and then at the sticks of bamboo that formed her cage. An idea sprang into her head.  The sharp edge of the gravel would be enough to cut through the bars of her cage, wouldn't it?  She started sawing away at the tough wood.  About 30 minutes later, she had cut through one bar.  She would need to cut through about five to squeeze even her slight body frame through.  That would take about two hours, thirty minutes.  It would be dark by then, which meant easier to slip away.  She freaking hoped that the vampires wouldn't be awake at night.  She sighed when she realised that, being vampires, they probably damn would be.  Oh well, Trixie.  She thought to herself.  Just try it anyway.  Because, in the long run, you're probably gonna die either way.  So, she continued to saw through the bamboo.
