Cobwebs stucked to Trixie's face. She brushed them away annoyedly. The light faded as she clambered down the tunnel. She stretched out her hand, ready to put it forward, only to realise that beneath it was nothing but thin air. Her heart jumped in her chest from shock and she plummeted down a long shaft, filled with nothing but empty pitch blackness. Her high pitched scream echoed around the tunnel as she fell. She braced herself, prepared for the hard rocky landing, but instead found herself sinking into an odd, springy substance. Moss, probably. A dim light flickered on and a husky masculine voice called out "who's there?"
"My name is Trixie," Trixie replied. "And who might you be?"
The light projected a long shadow onto the ground around her. She realised that it wasn't all springy. It was only a small patch of fluro green moss she was crouching on. A boy, around his late teens, stepped into view. He had jet black hair and eyes that matched it. His face was scarred but the scars looked like they were beginning to fade. His clothes looked faded, since they were a blotchy grey, and Trixie didn't think anyone would buy brand new clothes that looked like that. The sight of him calmed her. He smiled and revealed unusually long canines. Vampire.
She squealed and shrank backwards.
"You're... you're a vampire!" She shrieked.
"My name is Zai," the vampire said. " I was exiled from the vampire community when I refused to eat other vampires. They would've eaten me if I didn't run away in time."
That made Trixie feel slightly reassured. The fact that he probably wasn't going to eat her seemed fantastic.
