We all ended up staying the night at Josh's house. Everyone had gone to sleep when I crept over to the computer, sitting in the office chair. My fingers clacked on the keyboard as I went to Google.
I took a deep breath, allowing my fingers to tap each key.
'Retrograde amnesia (RA) is a loss of memory-access to events that occurred, or information that was learned, before an injury or the onset of a disease.'
Amber was right. I had an injury, and I couldn't remember anything before it. I sighed, leaning back in the chair.
"The questions are," I said to myself, "what would cause my mother to give me an injury, and why would my father have killed anyone, especially his supposed daughter?"I closed the browser and walked back to where everyone was sleeping. I laid my head on the wall, staring at the clock. A small yawn echoed through the room as Tyler sat up from his spot on the floor.
"Loren? Why are you still awake?" He asked, standing up and walking to me. I shrugged and ran my fingers through my hair. Tyler shook his head and took my hand in his.
"Are you thinking about what Amber said earlier? Come on, she was just trying to scare you."
I wanted to believe him. I probably would have believed him had I not looked it up.It was stupid how I felt. I was just a teenager, it's not like it would change my life in any way. I only lost a few memories- so why did it bug me so much? Perhaps is was just not knowing, but I had a gut feeling. I felt...betrayed by my own mom.
"Loren...you know I love you, right? No matter what you think. " Tyler quickly pecked my lips before wrapping his arms around my waist, pulling me to the floor with him.
I put my hand over my mouth to refrain from screaming."Tyler! Why did you do that?" I whined, pulling myself away and standing. He only laughed and pressed his back to the floor.
"Your brothers are jerks, ya' know?" Tyler blurted. "Sorry, that sounded rude. I was just thinking about when they pelted me with milk balloons."
I chuckled, shaking my head. "It was meant for me, I just happened to move. And you just happened to be there."
"I'm pretty sure Ethan and Joey hate me." Tyler ran his hand through the poof of his brown hair, letting out a small sigh.
I sat down and took his other hand in mine. "They don't hate you. They're just not use to not having me around all the time. As children, they probably assume whoever I'm with the most is to blame." I gently turned his head toward me and planted a kiss on his lips. "And if they don't like you, that doesn't matter, because I love you."
Suddenly, my phone began to ring. I answered it, forgetting that there was other people in the room. "Hello?"
"L-Loren? Is that you?"
My eyes widened. That voice. I hadn't heard it since I was young, maybe since I was..."Oh my god." I mumbled. The voice had ignited a fire in me that I'd lost after my 'incident'.
"Who is it Loren?" Tyler asked, noticing that I was shaken. My eyes met Tyler's as a tear slid down my cheek.
"Dad?"
