Luckily after Dominic gave us our drinks, we weren’t ready to order yet, so he left us alone for a few more minutes. In that time, Keith went up to the desk for something, and then when we were ready to order, Dominic wasn’t our waiter. Instead, we had a floozy blonde.

I really don’t know if having her was any better, because she was constantly flirting with Keith. She would bend over so he could see her cleavage, or just casually lay her hand over top of his. But lucky for me, I don’t think he fell for it, since when she put her hand over his, he quickly took it out from underneath hers, putting his hands under the table so she couldn’t try it again. It made me happy that he wasn’t paying attention to her like she wanted him to.

After she took our orders (mine being Chicken avocado, and his being shrimp with fries) she walked away, but not before dropping a napkin onto the table.

“What is that?” I asked leaning over to look at the napkin that he now held in his hands.

Keith suddenly burst out laughing, earning him looks from nearby tables.

“The waitress gave me her number,” he laughed while showing it to me.

I raised an eyebrow at him, wondering why he thought her giving him her number was so funny. “And what are you going to do with it?”

“I’ll probably just throw it away or tear it up,” he said casually while putting the napkin off to the side.

“Sure you will,” I said sarcastically while rolling my eyes. Hello, hot blonde girl just gave him her number. Since this is most likely only a one-time thing, I bet that he’d keep it for another day.

“You don’t believe me?” he challenged, leaning across the table, both of his hands flat out in front of him.

“No, I don’t,” I said while crossing my arms and leaning back against the booth, staring him dead in the eyes.

“Fine then,” he said casually. My mouth hung open as he quickly grabbed the napkin and tore it to shreds.

“I guess you really don’t care about that blonde bimbo then,” I said in shock, but on the inside, my stomach was doing somersaults.

“Told you,” he said smugly. “Why would I be interested in some other girl, when I have you?” He took my hand, brought it to his lips and kissed it.

I felt my face flush, knowing that I must really be blushing. “That was awful sweet of you to say Keith. But then again, I bet you say that to all of your dates.”

“Actually, no I don’t,” he said, giving me a quizzical look. “I haven’t actually been on a date in over a year and a half.”

“Really?” I asked, leaning closer, my curiosity piqued.

“Yeah, I mean, after the disaster with Torri sophomore year, I haven’t really thought about anyone else in that light, ya know?” he said while looking down at the table, not being able to meet my eyes.

I scrunched up my face in disdain. I remember that year and that whole big debacle. At the time, Keith and Torri were the “it” couple of the school. It was towards the end of our sophomore year, and then the unspeakable happened.

I was at my locker at the opposite end of the hall, and I heard a bunch of yelling. When I looked down, I just thought it was just a regular fight that happens at least once a week between the popular group over something that happened at a party that weekend. So, I wasn’t surprised when I saw Torri and Keith arguing. But what happened next had everyone stop in their tracks.

“We’re over!” Keith’s voice echoed throughout the hallways.

Keith then stormed away from where Torri was, leaving her confused with an intense look of hatred. It turns out that Torri was cheating on Keith with a guy from another school, and he saw them at the party that weekend and the truth was let out.
