December 18 2016-
Today was the day. The day I officially became Erin Sophia Halstead. Right now I was getting ready in Hanks office. Trudy and Olivia were helping me get ready as Kim and Amanda were getting my daughters ready.
"Come on Esmée" Amanda said to the six year old. "What are we doing today?" She asked
"Your mom and dad are getting married. You and Baylie are gonna be the flower girls."
"Oh. But who will carry the rings?" She asked sitting in the chair.
"Owen. He's your daddy's nephew and he's 2. Plus he's the only boy."
"Okay." She replied satisfied with that answer. Amanda then helped her into the white flower girl dress. Since it was winter she had a beautiful fur coat over it. When she got her clothes on Amanda sat her down and curled her hair. Meanwhile on the other side of the dressing room, Baylie was ready too. She was a matching replica of her sister only she was younger so there were no real curls.
Finally the girls were ready. It was time. I was ready and I was so excited and happy.
Jays Pov:
Today was the day I was marrying the love of my life. Yes we didn't plan it this way, I knew I wanted to marry Erin but we didn't expect to have a child before then. Then along the way came our sweet Esmée. Now Erin was pregnant and glowing with twins. I was ready. I straightened out the wrinkles and stood tall proudly.End of Jays povI was nervous but I was ready. "Alright I'm ready" I told myself. And the anthem of here comes the bride began to play. The doors to the precinct opened and I walked down the steps. Normally in a wedding the flower girls would go up ahead. Instead I sent Emmi and Owen down the path together. Since Baylie was still only 5 months old, I carried her with me down the aisle. All the officers, firemen, firewomen and everybody else in our life lined the path.
Then I was there I reached the priest and Jay. Kim and Amanda were holding my veil until I got there. Olivia then took Baylie and held her by Esmée. Jay took my hand kissed it and led me the rest of the way.
We kneeled.
"Dearly Beloved. We are gathered here today on this snowy morning to share with Erin and Jay as they exchange vows of their everlasting love."
"Who gives this woman to be married to this man?"
Hank stepped forward. "I do. I love my daughter with all my heart." He sat down.
"As Erin and Jay take their vows today, we are privileged to witness the joyous love of a new family. A family that will be and already is nourished and nurtured through the devotion of two separate individuals growing together through the common bonds of love."
"As a married couple you will provide love and compassion to not only each other but to your children, Esmée Mackenzie Halstead, Baylie Sky Halstead and your other two unborn children going to be brought into this world filed with joy, peace and love."
"May their marriage bring them the peace, joy, comfort and contentment that is known in the hearts of all God's children. And may Jay and Erin both look forward to each new season of their marriage --- just as the world looks forward to each new season of the year. For all seasons bring with them their own special moments and memories. "
"An essential requirement of a good marriage is a strong bond of real friendship and trust. Erin and Jay, your love for each other will grow deeper with every passing day, but it's important to remember that your love stands on a foundation of genuine, mutual affection and respect for each other. To truly LOVE another person is to be willing to accept both their strong points, and their weak points, with equal measures of understanding and respect.
The vows you are about to exchange, will serve as a verbal representation of the non-verbal emotions that are as real as any thing that can be seen, heard or touched.
For it is not the words that you will speak today that will bond you together as one --- but the strength of the love and commitment found deep within your souls.""Let us pray"
"At this time, I'll ask you, Jay, and you, Erin to face each other & take each other's hands.
Jay Alexander Halstead , will you take Erin to be your wife, your partner in life, mother to your children and your one true love? Will you cherish her friendship and love her today, tomorrow and forever? Will you trust and honor her, laugh with her and cry with her? Will you be faithful through good times and bad, in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?
"I do" he answered confidently
Erin Sophia Lindsay. Will you become Erin Sophia Halstead?"
"I will" I was officially a Halstead
"Erin Sophia Halstead, will you take Jay to be your husband, your partner in life, father to your children and your one true love? Will you cherish his friendship and love him today, tomorrow and forever? Will you trust and honor him, laugh with him and cry with him? Will you be faithful through good times and bad, in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?
"I do"
"You may now kiss the bride" he directed Jay. Jay pulled me close and kissed me passionately on the lips. Everyone clapped.
"Congratulations"
We were married. Olivia let my girls go and they ran to us. "Hi babies" I laughed as Baylie was struggling to get to me. Esmée being the good big sister she was, went back for her and carried her to me. I took Baylie and Jay took Esmée. We smiled for our first family photo. This was the best day of my life.
