I sat straight up. I gasped for air, gulping down as much as possible. My eyes weren't opened yet. I was actually kind of scared of what I would see. But I had to; for Maxon.

I couldn't see anything at first. I thought maybe I was still asleep. My eyes adjusted and immediately zeroed in on a shocked Maxon. He was gaping at me as if he'd never seen a girl come out of a coma before. Well, he probably hadn't so I guess I couldn't blame him.

He blinked once. Maxon tried to speak, but the words didn't come out. Then- he bolted. That's right. He grabbed the door handle and fumbled with it before it opened. It slammed shut behind him. Unbelievable. Not even a hello.

I stood up and crossed my arms. I was going to make it very clear that I was not pleased when he came back. I was surprised I could stand after so long.

The door opened slowly and Maxon entered. "Very classy, Maxon. Leaving your girlfriend when she wakes up from a coma?" I scolded.

I pointed a finger at him and started up again. "You're gonna have some serious apologizing to do, mister." Maxon looked stunned.

He regained his composure and retorted flirtatiously, "If you get over here, I'll start right now."

Any anger towards him melted away. I ran to him. Maxon lifted me off my feet and I wrapped my legs around his waist. I put my lips to his and it was absolutely magical. He tasted sweet and I couldn't get enough. My hand ran through his hair, getting tangled. Maxon's face moved down to the hollow of my neck. He nuzzled me affectionately. His lips placed little kisses on my shoulder. When

Maxon pulled away, I spotted tears streaking down his face. Happy tears, the only kind he should ever have to cry.

I wiped his face and whimpered, "I love you,"

        "I love you too, America."

As soon as we emerged from my room, I was smothered with hugs from my family. I couldn't imagine how I'd forgotten them.

When everything was settled down, we sat down around our dinner table. I wanted answers. How long was I out? What'd happened to me? I had other questions for Maxon that I would rather discuss in private. For now, what they told me was enough. It was my father who told me the whole story.

"It was mid-morning of your second day here. This is your ninth; your visit was extended because of... you know. Anyways, Maxon comes running out of your room. Shirtless, I might add." He raised a disapproving eyebrow. The little ones giggled. Maxon and I blushed fiercely. "He says you two were talking and then you had what looked like a nervous breakdown. Your mother and I rushed in. Your mom recognized it as what happened to May. Maxon gave you the medicine. You had a fever and coughed for the first three and for the rest of the time you were completely silent."

"We were worried that the medicine wasn't working. Then today, Maxon comes sprinting out of the room saying you're awake," He paused for a breath. "I guess the medicine worked after all." I didn't tell him it wasn't the cure that woke me up. It was another thing for Maxon and I to discuss.
