Enjoy guys! Let me know why you think in the comments. Happy Thanksgiving!
Harry's POV
Someone's screaming jolted me from my slumber. I looked at the clock on the night stand. 4 a.m. Another scream sounded and I threw the covers off me. There's nothing to grab hold of incase there's an intruder but I make my way out into the dark, open hallway. No more screams ring through the house, but I can here whimpers and talking. I press my hear to each door as I move to the door next to mine. A scream happens again and I burst open the door. With the moonlight coming in through the huge bay window of the room behind the head board I can see the figure thrashing about in the bed.
"Get away from her! I'll call the police." She threatens to no one imparticular. "Get away from her! Please! Don't hurt her!"
"Emily," she didn't hear me through her screams.
"Emily! Emily. It's just a dream, it's not real." I say.
She sits up and I flip the switch that turns the lamp on next to her bed. She sits up and stares at me for a minute. I don't think she realizes what just happened.
"It's ok, Emily, it was just a dream." I said.
Her breathing is erratic and loud. Her chest is heaving up and down violently trying to regain the energy it lost. She looked around the room and then back at me, "Right... Sorry."
I nodded toward her, "It's okay." I was about to turn and walk out of her room when she speaks up, "Harry?"
"Yeah?"
"Will you, uh, will you stay with me?"
I was taken aback by her request but I agreed without hesitation. I pull her into me and I can feel the wet tears trickling to my shirt. "They hurt her Harry. They were stabbing her repeatedly."
"Shh- shh" I hush her. I pull her head tighter to my chest and stroke her soft brown hair, "I promise you they haven't violently lashed out at her. She's safe and sound."
I stayed with her the whole night. Well, until two hours later at six when she spoke up letting me know that she never really went to sleep, "What do you think they're doing to her?"
Her voice held innocence and softness to her. It was, delicate.
"I'm afraid to answer that question. I don't want to lie to you and say that they're playing with her and feeding Darcy, but i could be lying by saying that."
"Mandy hasn't called in a few days. What if they end up dropping the case because they can't find anything. This man has two kids. Someone else out there is childless like me." Her sobs quickened, and I suggested us going downstairs to make some tea. She nodded and took the thick duvet from the bed and wrapped it around her.
I walk out of the room before her and was about to take a step down the stairs when she locked her arms around my torso, because of our height difference, the blanket engulfed the both of us. My arm reached around her back and we walked to the big kitchen like this. The living room and kitchen weren't separate so I told Emily to go sit on the couch while I made some tea.
I was half way through making the tea on the massive stove when Emily called, "Harry, you might want to come see this."
I turn the stove down so the pot of hot water wouldn't boil over and I walked into the living and looked in the direction Emily was.
'Police have informed us that there is a man roaming the streets that have even suspected of abducting a little baby girl. We've been told her name is Darcy Mayes and is eleven months old.'
A picture of Darcy popped up ok the screen.
'This man is known as Steele according to people around him. Steele reportedly broke into Darcy's mother's apartment, murdered the women and was taking care of Darcy at the time and took off with the baby. Darcy's mother says, 'I'll do anything to get her back safely.'
Police have told us they Steele has also been suspected of abducting a baby about two years ago and murdering his teenage mother. The boy, Devin, hasn't been found at this point. Police are searching more frantically now as they think that each minute the two kids are with this man, their lives become more in danger.'
I look in Emily's direction when I hear a sound come from her. I see that her hand is covering her mouth in shock and she's trying to keep from crying.
'If you see this man or these two children you are asked to call the police at the number at the bottom of your screen. Now for your morning weather, Tom?'
I grabbed the remote from the arm of the couch and turn it off then was back into the kitchen to stir the tea. Emily's sitting up-right in a ball, her eyes puffy and swollen when I return. She takes her tea from my hand and thanks me. I take notice that she only takes a few sips and then sets it on the glass coffee table before curling into me.
All of her lovey-dovey actions have started to get to my head. It's the things like wen she asks me to stay with her after she has a nightmare or she confides in me when she hears terrible news that goes to my head and makes me think she wants to start a relationship again; or at least try to work towards a relationship.
It's not the fact that I wouldn't want to be back in a relationship with her. I do. I've only spent almost a week with her and I'm starting to miss all the quirky things she used to do that made me like her back in year ten. It's the 'what ifs' that echo in my brain and refrain me from bringing them up to her.
What if I'm not a good enough father? What if she won't be able to handle being away from me for so long? What if she'd rather move out with Darcy because I'm never around and it's almost like they never lived with me because I'm always away. When people said this job surely came with a cost, they weren't kidding. They didn't mention, however, that it could possibly ruin your chance of having a real relationship with someone at anytime.
I don't want to have to leave her and Darcy, but I also don't want to turn around and make a joke out of myself while all this time I was trying to do the right thing. If only I wouldn't have been so caught up in the moment that night. We probably wouldn't be in this situation. Emily wouldn't be going through this heartache. She would still be living with her mum and dad in Cheshire. Who knows, I might not have even gone to the X- Factor if it wasn't because of that day when Emily broke the news to me.
"Do you think they've raped her?" Emily's voice was barely even a whisper- transparent and hardly audible.
"No, no. She's to small. If any sick bastard doesn't have a big enough heart to not rape an innocent baby girl then they should be in an insane asylum. That's just down right sick. It's sick no matter how old the person is, but it's perverted if you do it to a baby." For some reason my comment made Emily shiver and I hook my arm around her before hugging her tight.
"I don't think I want to be here when your family wakes up. I won't be able to act happy and excited for Anne. I won't be able to happily congratulate her and her husband on just getting married because of what I just saw on the news," Emily shifted her head and looked up at me, "Is it ok if we leave to go home, like now?"
I shrugged, "I understand. It wouldn't be a problem. If we leave now, we'd at least make it back to the hotel at about nine. Maybe you can get some more sleep there... You don't have to wear your dress home. You can wear Gemma's clothes home and I'll give you a sweatshirt to cover your arms."
Emily smiled as a thank you. I took her almost full cup of tea and poured it down the sink. I retrieved my phone and suit from my room I stayed in last night then was met by Emily in the car with it already started and the heat blasting. She put one of my hoodies on before I pulled out of the long drive way. She was asleep within minutes.
I pulled into the parking garage and parked in my usual spot. Emily was awake from when I shook her earlier and I have her my key card, "You can go upstairs ad unlock the room and head to my bed. I'll get your dress and shoes from the back for you and meet you up there."
Emily protested my offer and said she could carry her stuff by herself and that she could walk with me but I leaned across and opened the passenger door before shoving her out and locking the car before she could open it. When she was gone I checked my phone. I had a couple messages from Zayn asking where I was and a few from Louis- nothing big so they must not be worried sick that I fell off the face of the earth.
I walked into the lobby of the hotel with Emily's dress, wrap and shoes in my right hand, and my suit, vest, tie and shoes in my left. Stumbling out of the elevator from lack of sleep and having just driven three or four hours straight. Emily left the door ajar for me so I pushed of open and put my key and car keys in the bowl that was on the table in hallway. I silently walked into my room and put our stuff up so I wouldn't wake Emily and then grabbed my pillow and blanket from the corner of my room and walked out to the living room to catch up on some lost sleep.
To my undelivered surprise, Emily and I apparently had a surprise visiter sitting on the couch parallel to Emily. Emily's back was hunched forward, her elbows propping her head up and her hands rubbing her face and running through her hair. By the looks of it Emily didn't want this woman to be here.
I looked between the two. The woman was watching Emily until she made eye contact with me. She gave me that look where she was clearly looking down upon me while at the same time have me a disgusted look.
"Hello Mr. Styles."
I tipped my head to the devil of the woman, "Good morning Mrs. Mayes."
Emily have me a pleading look through her cupped hands that were over her face. She obviously didn't want her mum to be her and didn't enjoy the surprise of finding her.
{Ok so I just got to my brothers house and I'm soooooo tired but I've been cramped up in a car for so long that all I want to do is walk around to stretch out my legs. I decided to update so I could try and get sleepy. I love reading your comments and seri what you guys think! What are your thoughts on this chapter? Did you see the ending coming?
