Guys it's been so long but I have a couple of chapters for you guys so don't worry I won't be gone that long again. Enjoy ❤️
"I'm glad you came with me,"
My head hangs low as my hands tighten on my knees. Jogging was one thing but jogging with Nadine is actual running, so trying to keep the pace with her as she tells me about everything I've been missing out on is extremely difficult. And this is what I receive for coming home two days early and wanting to spend time with her.
This is exactly that karma biting me in the butt.
"I'm not," I say lowly before I lift my head up to look at Nadine as I see her try to hide her smile with her palm. It was bothering me but not enough to even make an ounce of anger sprout in me.
"It's simple jog-"
"Nadine," My hands float to my hips as I open my mouth and tilt my head to the sky. "This is running. Running. Jogging is not at a high level intensity like this. We already ran through the whole neighborhood twice. Around the campus and not once have I felt, wow this is such a nice jog."
"Sounds like sarcasm."
"It is."
Nadine starts to laugh at me before she wraps her arms around me. I'm sure that the sweat is pouring off of me but her skin is so dry. It's incredible.
She releases so she can study the scowl on my face before she too cocks her head upward so she can stare at the sky. Nothing fascinating about it today, aside from the possibility that it may rain or even snow. The sky was not its usual shade of calming blue rather a swirl of mysterious gray that is almost spread evenly across he sky with small spots of white poking out.
"It appears as if it's going to rain Chez. What do you think?"
"A possibility. Maybe a reason for us to stop running."
It wasn't long before she was out of my view and the sound of her sneakers pounding against the pavement rapidly were all I could hear.
There is no way that I can even keep up with her so I start jogging, only seeing her in front of me just a little far away.
"Come on," Nadine says as I continue to keep a steady pace in back of her.
This is exhausting.
"Fine."
I watch her sit down on a crimson red park bench and I slide right next to her before she starts to giggle. I'm sure that laying in my bed would be a nice substitute to this.
"Fine Cheryl. Let's relax because you can't handle this workout."
"You're absolutely right."
My eyes shut as my head leans on the back of the bench. I am so exhausted.
"Tell me how have you been? You seem to be going through a lot. Being sick and what seems to be newly single? How are you not dwelling on that?"
I only shrug.
"Did you find someone else to love?" Nadine says jokingly but her words have truth to them.
My phone begins to buzz in my pocket causing my weak hands to pull it out so my eyes can scan the name.
"Kimberley. Ah I'm glad you two have really hit it off."
"Yeah," I nod answering her text. It was something about being interested in helping her study. I just said "sure".
We sit in silence for a moment, Nadine doing God knows what, but I was trying to soak in the fresh air and relax. I needed to relax. It seems like everything is just so peaceful here in the park.
