I heard a screeching sound and I flew forwards, getting caught by my seat belt. My eyes flew open and I looked straight away at Liam who was already looking at me.

“Sorry about that. Rabbit ran out onto the road.. I didn’t want to hit it.” He grumbled quietly.

“No, it’s okay.” I said trying to adjust to my surroundings. My head was spinning and my vision was groggy. I knew I was in the car and I knew I was with Liam.

“Where are we?” I asked, squinting my eyes to form Liam’s figure.

“About an hour from Wolverhampton.” He said, with a smile. “I thought it would be a good place to go…” He trailed off, waiting for my reply. I sat there and waited for my eyes to finally adjust. I looked out the window and saw we were on the high-way, it was dark and there were hardly any cars around. I turned back to Liam nodding slowly.

“I already messaged mum so, she knows we’re coming.” He continued on once I nodded in approval to our heading back home.

“I haven’t seen her in years.” I said letting out a big sigh. I closed my eyes again and that’s when I noticed the throb in my head. It was like someone was playing the drums inside my head. I groaned before asking Liam if my handbag was in the car. I unclipped my seat belt before turning into the back. I saw my bag and reached for it. My gaze followed upwards into the backseat, revealing all the birthday presents that everyone had given me last night. My memories slowly lead to the events of what occurred between me and Niall. My body erupted with goose-bumps. I spun back around quickly and did my seat belt up.

“Jamie…” Liam mumbled reassuringly.

“That really happened last night didn’t it. It’s not just some sick twisted dream that I can wake up from.” I ran my fingers through my knotty hair. He didn’t say anything; I just saw his fingers tense up around the steering wheel. That was enough evidence for me. I shut my eyes but more tears came anyway. The overflowed and soon drenched my cheeks. I felt Liam’s hand grab my thigh and his fingered rubbed back and forwards.

“I’m so sorry Jamie. I had no idea. If I had known I swear to you I would’ve-”

“Stop.” I interrupted him. He stopped mid-sentence and removed his hand from my leg. I took a deep breath and spoke again. “If he’s willing to lie to me through-out our entire relationship, then he’s obviously not the man I thought he was, and our relationship was not what I thought it was.” More tears came from my eyes but I wiped them and flicked them away angrily.

“He doesn’t deserve you.” I heard Liam mutter under his breath, but I chose to ignore it and just focus on the black images flashing past our moving car.

About an hour so passed and I had been drifting in and out of consciousness. It was now bright outside and I recognised the scenery of Wolverhampton. I smiled to myself knowing that I was somewhere I was comfortable with. Somewhere that was home. I could not wait to see Liam’s family again; it had been way too long.

“Nearly there.” Liam said with a smile as he noticed I was awake again. I smiled back at him and went back to looking out the window. I noticed the supermarket that we used to ride our bikes too and buy all the cheap lollies with the money we were meant to be buying a proper healthy lunch with. I giggled to myself thinking about all the memories I had here. I looked back over to Liam who was smiling to himself, I wondered if he was thinking the same thing.

We took a left then a right and we finally arrived at his house. I looked at the car clock and it was 6:40am - surely his family would not be up. I reached back into the backseat and grabbed my handbag. I opened the door and had a huge stretch, I looked over and Liam was doing the same. We walked up the little pathway that leads into his house. He pulled out his key and unlocked the door silently. Both of us slipped inside and headed to Liam’s room. We knew no one would be up and we didn’t wanna wake them so we decided on going back to sleep. Both of us were exhausted.
