Sweat was nearly dripping from my forhead and all I could hear were the screams. The piercing screams as the fire grew. The screams of my family.
"Wynter!" My mother yelled my name.
"Mom!" I gasped.
I tried to see through the smoke that consumed everything, and I tried to breathe. I pulled myself up from the floor to my knees, and started crawling towards my mothers screams. I couldn't find her, and it sounded like her voice was coming from the main source of the fire: The kitchen. I didn't know what to do. Did I keep looking for my parents and my brother? Or did I leave to save myself? No. I had to stay. I could very easily escape the burning house, but I wouldn't dare. Not without my family.
"Dad! Mom! Jackson!" I screamed.
"Wynter!" I heard my dad reply.
"Dad!"
"Wynter! In the dining room!"
I was in the living room, which was right near the dining room, so I stood up on my feet and started racing towards the dining room, avoiding the flames which were growing. My father was surounded by flames, I didn't see how he could escape. The kitchen where my mother was, was worse though. I tried to glance into the kitchen, to see her, but all I saw was smoke and flames. I didn't even know how this happened. My mother had been making dinner like every night, and my dad was setting the dining room table. I was in the living room, sitting on the couch, watching T.V.
"Wynter! Listen to me! Try to get your brother, and if you apsolutley can't without dying, then save yourself and leave. Please Wynter, me and your mother aren't going to last much longer, but you and your brother, you and Jackson have a chance. Please Wynter."
"Daddy," I cried. "Please, daddy no. I can't do this. Please, we need to get you and mom out. Jackson too. Please." I was nearly sobbing by the end.
"Wynter, baby girl, I love you. So much, I love your brother to peices too. But honey, I will not let you or Jackson die. Please Wynter, I love you. Go before it's too late."
I nodded. "I love you too daddy, so much."
"And Wynter, I'll always be with you, even if I don't make it. Your mother too."
I nodded again while tears fell from my eyes. I ran out and then paused when I was as close as possible to the kitchen as I could be.
"Mommy?!" I yelled. Yes, I was 15, so normally I wouldn't say mommy, but at that moment, I had too.
"Baby," I heard her whimper.
"Mommy, I love you so, so much. I'm so sorry. I don't know how to save you and dad." I cried.
"Baby girl, Wynter, please don't worry about us. We're always with you. We always will be. I love you and Jackson so much, I'm so sorry." She was breathy, and it sounded like she wouldn't last much longer."
"Please, don't leave me." I begged.
"Go. I love you." And that was the last thing she said.
I started running again, past the flames, trying to get upstairs. I ran past my parents room and up the stairs where me and Jacksons rooms were.
