So all these parts are in chronological order and so you should read them in order. Unless you really don't want to. So comment a nickname and vote and follow and everything else. The entire story will be in 3rd person POV (hopefully). Enjoy!

Kori POV

"Today is all about survival," Gobber said, releasing a Gronkle after handing each person a shield. The students simply needed to stay alive. Kori was pretty light on her feet so she felt very confident as long as no one gets too close to her. Protecting Hiccup, however, was a whole other matter.

"Don't worry, babe, I'll keep you safe." Snotlout said from her left. Ugh, the king of getting in the way. The smarter of the two characters plotted against the other so she could have space to do her thing. The Gronkle came after them. Kori was barely able to dodge it. Unfortunately Snotlout was able to as well; according to Kori's thought process, this was unfortunate. Then she heard a scream from Hiccup. She totally forgot about him! "What kind of sister am I?" she thought. Luckily, Gobber was watching out for him. Kori dropped her shield and sprinted over to Hiccup to make sure he was ok.

"A dragon will always, always, go for the kill," Gobber said as a final thought. I have no doubt in my mind that Kori and Hiccup were thinking the same thing:

Why didn't the Nightfury?

Hiccup and Kori went adventuring in the woods that afternoon. The peaceful walk to vent frustration was interrupted by a frustrated-sounding roar. Then they saw it. The Nightfury. It looked like it couldn't fly. Both thought it was strange. But apon closer examination they saw that it didn't have the left side of its tail. Kori knew that that must be the reason it couldn't fly out. It appeared Hiccup thought around the same thing because when Kori turned to Hiccup she saw him draw the dragon before erasing the left side of the tail. It looked perfect! Meanwhile, Kori could barely draw a stick figure.

Hiccup was intent on his drawing and Kori began to dream up ways to give this dragon a new tale. Then, Hiccup dropped his charcoal. The dragon looked at the two.

"Well, he should ignore us if we don't bother him," Kori said to lift Hiccups spirits and reassure herself. She slowly climbed down the rock.

When they finally got to the bottom, it turned out it fell in a little lake. Kori dove in and got the charcoal but dinner time had arrived. They needed to go to the great hall so nobody would wonder where they were and find the dragon and finish off the job. Bottom line: there was no time to dry off. They entered the Great Hall with Kori dripping water as she walked.

"Babe, if you were this wet you could have just come to my house. I could've taken care of your little problem," Snotlout said as Kori passed him. Kori glared and raised a clenched fist as if to punch only to bring her arm down again when she decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Hiccup looked a little mad as well but knew Kori could handle it.

They both grabbed food and sat by themselves. Snotlout wanted to sit next to Kori but he didn't want to sit at the same table as Hiccup. Kori knew that if she ditched her brother she would be considered a "cool kid" but she wouldn't let Hiccup remain in the depression of solitude. He needed Kori (even though he would never admit it). Despite being adopted they were win together, lose together, live together, die together family. Their bond wasn't as deep as the twins but that's the exact reason they couldn't leave each other. They wouldn't be able to make it without anyone. They finished their meal and left for home. It was pretty late and Hiccup fell asleep quickly. Kori remained awake to let her mind settle. She re-winded, paused, and played all her thoughts from that day. She pondered over memories, ideas, facts, comments, objects, and all other thoughts she wished to consider before falling into a coma-like slumber. She considered friendships and wars and bonds and morals and ways to get things done. In the end, her mind could not fight off the impending sleep. She gave in when her brain wouldn't work and succumbed to a dream-filled sleep she would remember nothing of.

It was a Zippleback. One head spits gas, the other ignites it. The trainees task? To find which was which and throw water at the one that ignites it. Kori thought it was unfair seeing as everyone except Hiccup and her were in the fire department. Yet, she soon found out they were still bumbling idiots who didn't know a socket wrench from a monkey wrench. Kori was partnered with Snotlout. Fishlegs is absent and Hiccup is with one of the twins. Unfortunately, he was hitting on her while she was trying to focus, making it very difficult for either of them to pass, much less excel.

"Don't worry, Kori. I got this," He would say. Kori would mentally face palm. You could hardly see anything through the mist. The "team" of Kori and Snotlout spotted a shadow. Ever since Kori was a little girl she's had a slightly stronger sense of smell than average. This figure smelled of dirt, hair, and that musty smell you find in an attic. One of the twins.

"There!" Snotlout shouted.

"No!" Kori yelled. But it was too late. He threw the water at the figure, who turned out to be Ruffnut. She sighed and figured he was always going to be a hopeless human being. Kori turned just in time to see Hiccup attempt to splash the correct head with water, but the water just fell back down on him. She immediately ran over and splashed water at the Zippleback head. The head reeled back in confusion and annoyance. It began moving towards the two. Everyone was shell-shocked as Kori threw her bucket at the head, distracting it, before grabbing her brother's arm and pulling him with her out of the cloud. The Zippleback slowly emerged from the cloud.

Kori would shout and run around the dragon keeping it focused on her so a) it wouldn't hurt anyone and b) she could practice different tactics. Gobber soon came out of his shock and charged the beast. Before he had taken ten steps Kori ran behind the dragon and jumped onto its back. Both heads writhed up and down, trying to throw her, but she held fast. The dragon soon gave up and ran to the cage. Kori jumped off and shut the cage door with the Zippleback safely inside. The shocked stares of many made her uncomfortable. She sprinted out of the arena, Hiccup following closely behind. Once they got home the duo discussed the fact that neither of them could kill a dragon.

"Kori, that was fantastic. How'd you do it?" Hiccup asked. I sighed and let out a little laugh.

"I don't know. I'm more concerned about the dragon that can't fly. It's going to die sooner or later," she said with her mouth in a small smile and her eyes looking as if she had already heard the dragon's funeral plans. Hiccup's eyes lit up, letting her know he had an idea.

"You!" he proclaimed.

"What about me?"

"You could make him a new half of a tail."

"No. Absolutely not."

"Please? He might die if we don't help him!"

"No."

"Why not?"

"It's not safe. He could kill us easily."

"I don't think he will. He hasn't yet, even though he's had plenty of opportunities." Kori gave him a look. Hiccup chuckled nervously. "Hehe, yeah. I forgot to tell you I stop by there on a daily basis now. But he's super sweet! His name's Toothless and he's so cool! We're friends now!" He sounded so happy; like a kindergartner that had made his first ever friend. Kori didn't want to spoil his good mood.

"I'd need some measurements."

"I've got that. I'll show you tomorrow."

"Fine. Tomorrow, since we don't have any training." With that Hiccup fell asleep. Kori preformed her nightly ritual. The main topic she chose to focus on wasn't Snotlout or friendships or how she conquered the Zippleback. She thought of blueprints and mechanics and the science and mathematical facts of dragons and their tails.

I'm sorry if I didn't follow the plot line! Please comment anything confusing, important, random, and a nickname. I'm sorry this took a while! I will try to get the next part out soon!
