Her Heart

Aiden’s POV

As soon as I saw the note it was like the world around me froze and my heart stopped beating, it felt like an eternity before my heart started beating again but in reality it was only a few seconds.

“Drake! Come up here immediately!” I screamed at the top of my lungs at him.

I reached out and gently touched Raven’s neck checking for a pulse even though she had a heart monitor attached to her, I just had to feel her pulse myself. I left out a sigh of relief once I had reassured myself that she was still in the same state as before and that nothing else had happen to her.

I heard feet thumping loudly down the hall right before Drake burst through the open door and examined the room almost as carefully as I had. I could see some of the tension in his shoulders slowly start to leave him, he opened his mouth as if to say something before he noticed the note that was still lying at the bottom of Raven’s bed. He stalked towards it and picked up the note. Slowly he unfolded and read it as he was reading it thousands of emotions crossed his face unfortunately the two that remained was anger and concern. That was unfortunate because lately nothing has been able to get him to show an emotion lately so whatever was written on the note had to be bad.

“How did someone get in here and leave that? This house is meant to be secure!” He questioned outraged.

“I don’t-I don’t know.”

“We are moving her downstairs to the basement so that we can watch her all the time! She is never to be left alone, something like this is never ever going to happen again!” He angrily growled “Please tell me that nothing has happened to her?”

We may not have seen Raven for a couple of years but she was still like a sister to him, I wouldn’t exactly say that she was like a sister to me because with the kind of feeling that I had for her, that would practically be incest. It wasn’t our choice to move away and if I could go back and stay here to protect Raven throughout those years...I would do it in a heartbeat.

“Don’t worry nothing happened to her, I already checked. Do you think that you might be able to find out who left that note here?”

“I already know who left this here but it doesn’t hurt to look this note over in the lab just to make sure.”

“Who left the note here?”

“Ummm...let me check it over in the lab first and then I will tell you.”

“But Drake...” I complained

“I will tell you later,” He growled at me.

“Fine! I will go downstairs and get someone to move a bed and hospital equipment into the basement for Raven.”

I looked down at Raven again and softly pushed a stray strand of hair out of her face. I stood before leaning down and lifting her into my arms being extremely careful not to detach any piece of the machinery from her. She still had the heart monitor, just encase something went wrong, she also had a IV in her arm, by her elbow, so supply her with all of the nutrients that she need considering she hasn’t woken up in a few days and therefore hasn’t be able to eat anything. We couldn't give her any medicine to help her heal considering we didn't know what was wrong with her, if we gave her the wrong medicine she would die.

Holding her in my arms I reassured myself, yet again that she was fine and that nothing else had hurt her but without me reading that note there was no way of knowing that for sure. I sat back down on the bed and lay her head on my chest while trying my best to relax but no matter how hard I tried there was a little voice at the back of my head telling me that I was wrong.

 “I am going to go out for a little while and take a run or something like that before taking a look at the note,” Drake muttered prior to leaving the room and taking the note with him.

I sighed and listen to the constant beeps coming from the heart monitor.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeee-

There was an intense pain spreading throughout my body coming directly from my heart after hearing Raven’s stop, yet again.
