“I have already checked the note for finger prints and any substance,” Drake answered my question just as I opened my mouth to ask him, “Too bad we aren’t living in one of those crime scene investigation show because the only print that was on the note was so smudged up that it would have been impossible for my friend to run.”

“By ‘your friend’ do you mean the policeman that you befriended after he arrested you one too many times?” I enquired.

“Anyway, is there anything in that note that stands out to you?”

I stared at the note, yet again, in disbelief as I tried to wrap my head around the fact that she was the reason behind this. When she said that she would get her “revenge” on me for her husband I didn't believe her mainly due to the fact that her husband died from cancer years ago and there was no way that I could have given him cancer I mean I was smart but not that smart. And there was no way that I would have even been able to get cancer to give it to him anyway.

“What does she mean by ‘I watched my love die doesn’t it seem fit that you watch yours?’ because you and Raven aren’t in love?” Drake questioned as he stared at me like the answers were written on my face.

“Her husband had cancer and she came to me begging me to change him into a vampire because she saw it as the only way to save him, she said that everything else that they tried failed or that it was already too late to try and if they did try those ways that it would either mean that he would die then and there or that is wouldn't work but triple the amount of pain that he was in. I refused because it's extremely painful and not to mention inhumane. You know because I would have to attack him so badly that the only way for him to survive was if the vampire virus was activated and the virus then started to heal him but only one out of every five or six people survives and out of the people that survived only a small portion of that stay sane. Those that didn't survive where so badly bitten all over that their families find it even more painful emotionally then if they were to die of say cancer.  So I refused and explained to her why but she saw it as if I was betraying her and killing her husband. She screamed at me about how she would get her revenge but it's been such a long time that I had forgotten all about it and I hoped that she had too.” I explained everything in detail to my werewolf brother.

“How was the death of her husband your fault?”

“I don’t know, I think that she just needed someone to blame and the easiest person for her to blame just happened to be me.”

“Was she human?”

“Yes...”

“How did she know about vampires? I mean isn’t that one of your biggest laws, ‘Never tell a human’. Did you tell her?” Drake questioned while he paced back and forth in the room.

“No, I would never have broken that law, even if it isn’t exactly the worded correctly, I never told her about us. She said that she knew my mom was a vampire and she just assumed that I was one too.” Drake and I are technically only half brother. I was born roughly two years earlier than Drake, when our dad had an...affair with my, vampire, mother before he met his, werewolf, mate. Our father is an alpha meaning that he could have a child with someone besides his mate. My mother died during childbirth due to some unknown complications. When dad met his mate she didn't care that he had had a child with someone else and she even cared for me as if I was her own, she didn't even show favouritism between Drake and I but everyone know that I was the favourite child.

 “That still doesn’t answer why she is doing this to Raven, I mean you to aren’t in love?”

“I met her long ago when we first moved and at the time all that I would talk about was Raven plus I remember her always teasing me about how I was in love with Raven and considering I didn't deny her teasing...”

“How old were you when she came to you asking for you to infect her husband?”

“I was about twelve or maybe thirteen, I don’t remember exactly,” I shrugged and rubbed the back of my neck.

“Wow...” Drake breathed out as he thrust his hand through his hair before he roughly sat down on the bed next to me with a sigh.

I glanced around the room during the silence that was going on. Raven was still in her single bed by the door. I was currently on the bed closest to the open window. It looked like it was around six o’clock considering the sun was just beginning to set but there was no way to be sure if it was still Thursday.

“Who is she?” Drake questioned after a few minutes.

“Umm...well...I-umm...don’t really know...”

“How on earth can you not know who she is! It sounds like the two of you talked often!” Drake exclaimed as he threw up his arms.

“She was one of the maids hired to cook for our house and I basically lived in the kitchen back then but I didn't really learn her name,” I sheepishly said.

“So we just ask mom who was working in the kitchen at the time and then we will know who she is.”

“But how will that help! She said that there is no cure so even if we find her there is no way of saving Raven! Raven can’t die...”

“I know Aidan, I know...”

“What are we going to do?”

“Kill her, starve her, torture-”

“Drake! I didn't mean that! I meant what are we going to do about Raven, we can’t let her die! But there isn’t a cure so all we can do is let her die!”

“So all we have to do is create a cure!” Drake said while he jumped up excitedly.

“I don’t think it is that easy or safe! If we do something wrong she could die Drake!”

“I never said that it was going to be easy but it is the only chance that we have at saving her.”

“Hmmm...” I breathed out as a tried to think of a reply. I slowly got up, making sure that the pain from around my heart had disappeared before I walked over to Raven’s bed and curled myself around her sleeping form.
