Graduation Day. I slip on the blue gown and put on the blue cap. I adjust the cap so that the gold tassel hanging from the top is obscured from most people's vision. As I step out of my room and make my way to the front of the house, a cheerful voice ruins my calm stature.
"Come on lets go! You don't want to be late to the big day do you?" my mother says as my brother dashes out into the driveway and crashes into me.
"Of course not," I sigh.
We all get into the car and my parents overwhelm me with a series of questions regarding college and my future. Little do they know that I won't have a future soon.
We arrive at William Penn High School. I have to leave my family to go to the graduate waiting room(A.K.A. Mr.Wilson's room) where all students are supposed to meet.
"We'll see you later. Good Luck, we love you." my mother cries as I walk away.
Louis and Julie meet me near the room.
"Ready?" they exclaim simultaneously.
"Yeah I guess, you?" I reply.
"Yup, I'm so nervous though." Julie answers.
"Don't be. At least you don't have to make a huge 20 minute speech about growing, life, and memories." I laugh.
"True. Are you coming to my grad party later?" she asks.
"Nah, I don't think anyone would want me there, it wouldn't be fun for me anyway." I respond sadly.
"Come on you haven't been to a party in a while don't you remember how fun they are?" Julie says.
"They were fun but times are different now, I'm not who I once was," I sigh.
"Well I can't make you come but it would be better with you there, tell me if you change your mind ok?" Julie replies.
"Ok but don't get your hopes up," I reluctantly agree.
The graduation progresses smoothly and my speech gets a standing ovation. No, I'm not going to write the whole thing out here and explain how nervous I was. That would be cliché. Let's just say I was pretty happy when it was over. I'm on my way home trying to tune out my parents' clucking about how great my speech was and how much their "baby" has grown. Buzz, buzz, buzz. My phone vibrates. Julie has sent me a text.
J: So are you coming?
