I am running to class, determined to not be any later than I already am but unfortunately I reach homeroom 7 minutes late. Mr.Clark gives me a nasty stare and students smirk at me. The only student not laughing or sneering at me is Camryn.....and Andrew Skyward.

"Nice of you to join us Ms.Rick, to what do we owe this tardiness?" Mr.Clark asks.

"I'm sorry sir it won't happen again, you see there was a lot of traffic an-" I replied but was cut off before I could explain why I was late.

"Do not begin with your petty excuses Ms.Rick, I would prefer you seat yourself and open the textbook to page 132 so we may resume our fantastic journey to understand the concepts of the typical amphibian body system and structure," Mr.Clark boomed.

I sat down and did as Mr.Clark said. I was actually focusing on my work for once when I heard a whisper to the right of me.

"Hey, I'm sorry to bother you but do you think you can do me a favor?" basketball captain Luke Ross whispered politely.

I was shocked that someone of his level and popularity was talking to a geek like me but I tried to act cool.

"Depends what it is," I answered smoothly.

"Pass this to Skyward," he said as he handed me a note with the name Andrew on it.

"Sure," I responded as I grabbed the note from Luke's strong grip.

I waited until Luke looked away and went back to his work. Then, I unfolded the note and read it.

"Watch your back new kid, if you try to take my spot I'll crush you! DON'T TRY ANY SNEAKY STUFF. I'M CAPTIAN OF THE PANTHERS NOW AND FOR THE REST OF HIGH SCHOOL!!!" it said.

Using my amazing context clue power I was able to infer that Andrew was going to try out for the basketball team and captain position. That sucks. I expected more of him but now he's just going to become another popular basketball jock. What a waste....a mind like that should be used properly. I tapped Andrew on the shoulder.

"Hey this is from Luke," I whispered.

"I know, I heard his ugly voice, he's a really bad whisperer," Andrew's melodic voice answered.

I chuckled and passed him the note. Andrew read the note and laughed. Such a perfect laugh.

"It's like the thick head assumes that if anyone is trying out for the team, they are automatically a threat to his captainship," he joked.

"So you're trying out for the team?" I questioned.

"Yeah but I don't want to become one of those stupid jocks like him, I just like the game you know?" he explained.

"Yeah, that's cool cuz I don't think I could stand another Luke," I giggled.

The bell suddenly rang. For the first time ever I didn't want to leave first period.

"Well bye see ya fourth period!" Andrew exclaimed as he walked to second period.

His eyes glimmered as he said goodbye. That was probably what I liked most about him. His eyes. They were bright blue with golden and hazelish green flecks in them. You could stare at them for the whole day and not get tired.
