Elena's POV:
When we heard that gunshot, neither of us knew what to do other than to run. Dean gets to the door first and ends up having to break it down to get inside. What I see next shocks me to my core. When we open the door, Sam is kneeling on the floor, next to a dead Madison.
"Sammy...are you ok. Are you hurt?"
"Do I look hurt Dean. I'm not the one with a bullet in my head." As they are talking, I walk around them and kneel next to Madison. Even though I feel it in my gut, I still have to check if there is a pulse. So I slowly bring my arm down, almost like I'm afraid to disturb her. Once my fingers rest against her throat, I could already tell that my hopes...were gone. She's gone. What happened...
"What happened Sammy?" Dean spoke almost exactly what I was thinking. When I look over at him, I could tell that he was trying hard to keep Sam from falling over.
"Guys, no matter how much we want to know what happened, we might want to talk about this somewhere else." Dean looks up at me for the first time since we got into the apartment and actually agrees with me. We walk out of the apartment, down to the Impala, and back to the motel. All in silence. Once we know we are back somewhere decently safe and where the brothers have their array of weapons, we deem fit to ask questions.
"Ok Sam. Tell us what happened." I dove right in because if there is something we have to know, we should know now.
"She turned..." Did I just hear that right?
"No she couldn't have. I went out myself and killed her sire. I told you that. She should've been fine." Dean and I were baffled. This can't be right.
"You didn't. Last night she turned. And it was after you told me about the sire. She disappeared around midnight and didn't come back until 6 o'clock that morning. I found her covered in dirt and blood on the floor. When she came...she begged me to do something."
"Sam, it's ok. We are here. What did she want you to do?" It seems like I was the only one to remain calm so of course I took over the talking.
"She begged me to shoot her. To kill her. She didn't want to be alive if she was to remain a monster." And there it is. I can't believe it. Sam had to kill someone who it is obvious he had feelings for.
"Sam..." before I could get anymore words out, he stood up and left.
Sam's POV:
I can feel it again. The dark feeling taking me over again...
Dean's POV:
It's been a few hours since Sam stormed out and I can't be more worried. I can't have him do something stupid. He isn't in the right mind set. I look out the window and the parking lot is still empty. I can't keep standing here though, or else I'm going to make myself crazy. I look away from the window and catch a glimpse of Elena out of the corner of my eye. She's passed out on the couch, looking more peaceful then I have seen her since I met her. This girl, she's going to be the death of me. I can't stop worrying about her, whether she is ok, or happy, or just...here. I can't deny it anymore. I don't want to deny it anymore. I am falling for Elena Gilbert.
2 days later...
Elena's POV:
Right now, we are on our way to Los Angeles, CA. There is apparently a case going on there and they want to take it. I honestly believe it's to take their minds off things though. When Sam returned, he wouldn't talk to us. He just went straight to bed. Yet, when he woke up the next morning, it was like nothing happened. He found a new case and that was the end of San Francisco. I guess it's a good thing that he moved on, but I just can't help being worried about him.
