Smokepaw woke up in a magicial forest. He looked up, and saw many shooting stars. He smiled, and ran through the forest, the mystically breeze fluffing his fur up.

"Smokestep?" An old voice asked. He looked around, and spotted an old gray she-cat. She looked younger than Smokepaw remembered.

"What're you talking about? I'm Smokepaw." He smiled.

"Aren't you Graypool? That medicine cat that died the day after me and my sisters were born?" He asked, tilting his head to one side.

"He does have powers, like we predicted." Another older voice said. Except this one was much older. A beautiful tortoise-shell she-cat with silver lining stood next to a very old white she cat.

"Graypool. It is your job to take care of FireClan's future now. Why don't you attend to it?" The tortoise-shell asked.

"Your second in command. Plus, Lionbrair is watching the pool right now. I'm more interested in the young cat standing in front of us." She smirked.

"He does oddly look like Smokestep, doesn't he?" Graypool murmured to the other two.

Smokepaw's purple eye began shining as he looked at the three she-cats.

"You all are suspicious of me...? Because I look like a cat you all once knew..?" Smokepaw asked. Then, his face grew into a sudden raged expression.

"Don't compare me to a cat I don't even know!" He hissed loudly. Only two of the she-cats were startled, but the pure white walked forward.

"You do not scare me, kit. I'm the leader of StarClan... Nothing your mind can even comprehend yet. We compare you because he vanished from here on the same day you were born, Smokepaw." Smokepaw's eyes widened as he dipped his head.

"Sorry for having such a hostile reaction, then.." He opened his jaws to reply, but only felt a sharp prod in his side.

His eyes shot open as he saw Mintpaw, looming over him. She smiled.

"Sagestar wants you. Make it quick, I have to awake Snowpaw, too." Smokepaw nodded, understanding his sisters concerns and forcing himself up to his paws. He arched his back in a stretch, and left the den, walking towards Sagestar. His leader- and mentor- was talking to the new deputy.

"Ah.. There's my apprentice." Sagestar smirked. Smokepaw walked forward, his back straight and his head was held high.

"Morning, Sagestar." Smokepaw said, and only dipped his head to Blazeclaw.

"Are you ready for your training, Smokepaw?" Smokepaw nodded, though many thoughts were running through his head.

"Who was Smokestep?" He thought. He looked at Sagestar, and then a smile curled up onto his lips.

"Sagestar." Sagestar looked at his apprentice as they were walking into the woods together.

"Yes?" Sagestar asked.

"Who is Smokestep?"Right as he asked the question, Smokepaw launched himself into Sagestar's mind. The vision he saw was cloudy. The same mystical forest he was in the night before appeared. He jumped to another cats vision, and then he saw it. A dark gray cat, almost dark enough to be black, with two green eyes staring at Sagestar.

Then, the dark tom lept forward, his claws out and ready to attack Sagestar. Smokepaw watched as the StarClan warriors jumped on the cat who attempted to kill the new leader.

"So.. Smokestep was evil..? How dare they try to compare me to a cat who tried to attempt murder on my leader.." He murmured. He jumped out of Sagestar's thoughts.

"He's an unimportant cat, though he was one of the founders of this clan." Smokepaw smirked.

"Liar."
