Songbird's Future: A Life With Sage And Dove

Chapter Four

Songbird woke up in a cold den. They had forced her to sleep below the leaders' den with no moss.

"Morning." Tallskip said from outside. She had no intention to respond to him. She stood up and walked out. They said she could live a normal clan life in ThunderClan for her last day, but either Tallskip or Beetail had to be with her. She rolled her eyes as Tallskip padded a bit behind her. She took a mouse off the pile and looked at the sky. Why her? Why was this the destiny that her and her kits would have? Suddenly, she lost her vision. She was confused for a moment before she fell to the ground.

"Songbird?" Tallskip asked, a bit freaked out. He ran off to find Neststar. She could hear him in the distance;

"Neststar!! Songbird fell over, and her eyes are dull!"

Suddenly, her vision lit up again. It wasn't in ThunderClan, though. She blinked her eyes again, to ensure her sights. She saw Sagestar, with Graypool, Blazeclaw, Spiderfang, and Dovefrost. They were almost to ThunderClan. Her eyes widened as her vision returned to normal, and she could clearly see ThunderClan's camp again. She immediately stood up. Neststar was standing next to her, with the medicine cat. Well, that's what she thought. She didn't recogonize the cat.

"What happened Songbird?" Songbird smirked at them.

"Oh.. Nothing, I just felt a bit dizzy." She said, keeping her smirk.

"I don't trust-" Neststar began, until interruptd by a sudden out burst of sound towards the tunnel.

"They're here already? About time." Songbird thought to herself.

"N-Neststar.." The warrior called. Songbird watched as her clan-mates flooded into the camp. Curious kits and apprentices were watching.

Sagestar walked forward, standing almost nose-to-nose with Neststar.

"You're Neststar, correct?" Sagestar asked. Neststar's back fur began to bristle.

"Yes.. Who are you?"

"My name is Sagestar." He said, then shifted his gaze to Songbird.

"You have our medicine cat held prisoner in your camp." Songbird bit her tongue. How did she forget that she was a medicine cat?

"M-Medicine cat?" Neststar stuttered.

"But- She's expecting kits!" Songbird saw a few of her clan-mates eyes widen. Sagestar nodded.

"I am clearly aware of this." He growled.

"She's expecting Blazeclaw's kits. And of course, keeping a medicine cat here would be against the clan code, would it not?" Sagestar asked.

"But- She's broken the code multiple times!! She's killed two cats, and is expecting kits as a-"

"Who cares?" Sagestar growled.

"You want to get your revenge by breaking the code yourself?" Sagestar challenged. Neststar fell silent.

"Songbird may not be a perfect clan cat, and she's made mistakes." Sagestar said, smiling at her.

"But she, and her kits, do not deserve to die under the paws of this clan. She deserves to live longer, and serve her new clan the best she can." Sagestar meowed. Neststar stared at them.

"Come on, Songbird." Graypool said with a smile. Songbird nodded.

"I-I've never seen you at gatherings.. What kind of clan are you..?" Neststar asked.

"We're FireClan. And we suggest you do not mess with us again, otherwise you will have a war on your paws."

Neststar stood tall, even though Songbird could see that she was trembling with fear.

"Smell you later, Neststar." Songbird said with an evil smile.

"Thank StarClan you came to rescue me." Songbird said to her clan-mates.

"But how did Sagestar know about my kits? And how Blazeclaw was the 'father'?"

"Anything for a clan-mate." Sagestar meowed.

"Anything for my sister." Dovefrost purred.

Once they had returned to camp, Songbird felt.. Weird. Her stomach ached up every once in awhile, and she felt pain, too. She walked to the nursery.

"Sweetwing?" Songbird called quietly.

"I'm awake. I heard you were in danger, so I couldn't sleep." Sweetwing talked quietly. Songbird saw Sweetwing's kits sleeping next to her, and she smiled.

"They're so cute." Songbird purred.

"Thanks. I can't wait to see yours." She said. Songbird gave her a wide-eyed questioning look.

"Blazeclaw told me. You know though, isn't it weird that you haven't known Blazeclaw that long? Only a few days, right?" Songbird tensed up.

"Well, you see.. I met him once awhile ago too.. So that's probably when.." Songbird muttered, trying to explain. She hated lying to Sweetwing, but she had too.

"Ooh. I see." Sweetwing said.

Suddenly, Songbird felt her stomach surge with pain. She collapsed to the ground and let out a loud yowl. She was giving birth. Now.
