The Outsiders Portrait Poem

I am a greaser, a JD, and a hood.
I wonder why Steve's nose is so big.
I hear the gunshots.
I see the church fire.
I want a cigarette.
I am a greaser, a JD, and a hood.

I pretend I'm in Tulsa, OK., 1965.
I feel sympathy for the gang.
I touch the pencil I'm writing with.
I worry for the Curtis brothers.
I cry when Johnny and Dally die.
I am a greaser, a JD, and a hood.

I understand the meaning of "Stay Gold".
I say, "Do it for Johnny."
I dream for Ponyboy to have peaceful nights.
I try to use my head.
I hope to always stay gold.
I am a greaser, a JD, and a hood.
