When Steve's mom was pregnant with him, the doctors told Mr. and Mrs. Randle that they were expecting a girl. They went all out and bought dresses and bows and painted the nursery bright pink. It wasn't until the baby was born when the doctor realized that it was a boy, and he'd made a mistake. Since the new parents spent so much money on the dresses and worked hard on the pink nursery, they made poor Steve sleep in a flower-sprigged nursery and made him wear dresses and bows. Sodapop likes to tease Steve with his embarrassing baby pictures, which angers Steve a lot.
