Chapter Thirty
Who am I? Who is this woman starring back at me? Her eyes are hollow and she almost looks soulless. I don't know how I came to be this person starring back at me. I had texted the only person I could rely on to make sure I was safe. Whatever Ashton had planned was not something I was excited for. This was a dangerous game I was playing.
Ashton was more shaky tonight. The drugs in my system almost had me in a daze. A daze I would have gladly accepted if it weren't for what was going to happen at this party. I had only hope the person I had reached out to helped me. It was a long shot and even more dangerous for my career but I had to. I had no other choice but to get in contact with him.
"What is wrong?" Ashton's breathe nipped my ear.
"Nothing," I lied with ease. "I just can't wait to see the surprise."
Ashton smirked like a côcky bastard. He seemed happy with my response as he rested more comfortable into the limos seat.
I looked back out the window, starring myself in the eyes. The questions kept repeating in my ear. Who am I?
"Were here." Ashton straightened out his tie.
It had wrinkled while he had popped a few pain pills and something else. I had thankfully without suspicion denied it when he had offered it to me.
"Where did he take you?" My son, Alvin asked.
"To a party." I replied, "Like he had said."
My daughter eyed me, "There's something else. Something happened at this party. Something terrible."
My daughter was always observant. I nodded, looking away from my tea. I sat on my porch swing, focusing on the fields dancing as the wind moved them.
"What happened?" Kaylee softly asked.
We pulled up to paparazzi and flashing cameras. Our driver opened our door. Ashton stepped out, with a million dollar grin. Fans screamed for him, cheering for him. I felt sick. My stomach threatened to empty all it's contents on the limos floor.
Ashton held his hand out, waiting to escort me on the small blue carpet. I took a deep breathe, hoping my plan works. We walk the carpet, posing for pictures. Smiling, wrapping our arms around each other, occasionally kissing the others cheek.
The people behind the cameras go crazy to snap every pose. Fans squeal and scream for us.
Some fans yelled the "I love you!" In the distance.
We did a few short brief interviews for the reporters. Finally after an hour we walk through a door and meet by security guards. They send Ashton a nod and were allowed behind the door.
"Don't leave my side unless I tell you to." He whispered in my ear.
Ashton patted my hair, the action to others would have looked lovingly but I knew better. He was warning me and I knew better then to defy him.
"Of course." I fired a smile.
He eyed me intently, then smirked. Pleased by my response again. We walked around to mingle. Talking to the other guests easily. Models, directors, music producers, designers, and many people highly respected all clouded the room.
In my heart I knew he was here. Aidens presence was not to be ignored especially by me now. The very reason I had been ignoring him had been in hopes he would find me here. It was all apart of the plan. He was the only person I could trust.
