Chapter Three
"Justin are you sure I look appropriate for this type of meeting?"
I frowned, looking up at my best friend and tugging at my dress, hoping to cover more exposed flesh. I was nervous more then any other time in my entire life. This was a huge deal for me, my life, and my career. How else was I supposed to be feeling?
"Yes." He smiled "You look like a country bumpkin."
God, I hope he's wrong. Unsure if he's actually giving me a compliment or not.
Giving a half hearted smile, "I do feel cute."
"You are cute." Justin winked, draping an arm over my shoulder. "You'll be fine, I'm right here. There's no way he won't take you on as a client."
Inhaling a deep breathe to try an calm my nerves. "Let's do this."
"That's my girl." Justin grinned down at me.
I fixed my small jean vest, smoothing my dress out and began to build my confidence up. We walked in to a local coffee shop. The smell of sweet tasty pastries and warm brewing coffee filled my nostrils, I welcomed the smell.
"Miss Erikson." Mr. Garrett called.
He was seated on a small square table, wearing a simple brown suite and cream colored tie. I smiled over at him before looking at Justin with what I'm sure screamed I'm freaking out! glint in my eyes. He looked at me and nudged me in Mr. Garret's direction.
I huffed a breathe, extending my back straighter to become more business like. With Justin following close behind me, we walked over to Mr. Garret. He stood when we reached the table.
"I'm so happy you met with me here Miss Erikson." Mr. Garret grinned.
"Please, call me Lyrical." I said, putting out a hand to shake his.
He smiled shaking my hand giving it light squeeze, "Lyrical."
His touch was chilled alike last time. Dropping my hand to my side as Mr. Garrett turned towards Justin.
"Nice to see you again Mr. Steinfield."
I kept breathing in calmly hoping to slow my racing heart.
"Mr. Garrett." Justin shook his hand as well.
Justin refrained to tell Mr. Garret to call him by his first name. Now I felt foolish.
"Would you two like anything? A coffee or pastry?" Mr. Garrett asked.
"Yes, I'd like a coffee." Justin said.
"Cream or sugar?" Mr. Garret asked.
"No." Justin spoke. "I like my coffee black alike my soul."
I swear I could have decked Justin in the face. Nervously laughing at the small joke.
"Would you like anything Miss.." He paused, "Lyrical?"
"I'll take a coffee as well, with cream and sugar." I replied with a polite smile.
"The turtle truffles are amazing here, if you'd like one." Mr. Garret suggested.
"Umm..." I chewed on my bottom lip nervously.
"I'm not a sweet kind of man myself but I think Lyrical would like to try one." Justin filled in, saving my ass.
"Splendid. I'll be right back." Mr. Garret spoke, walking off.
"Lyrical it's okay, you need to relax a little." Justin mumbled as we seated.
My spine tense against the wooden chair.
"I can't help it." I defended, "This is so surreal. I can't believe this is actually happening."
"Just think this as any other meeting. Nothing to be nervous or scared about. We're just talking about what he can offer you, alright?" Justin encouraged.
I nodded unsure, "Okay."
"Here you go." Mr. Garrett sat down everything then seating himself in front of Justin and I.
"Thank you." I said then cleared my dry throat.
Picking up my coffee and taking a sip to moisten my lips and throat.
"Shall we get down to business?" Justin said making an ah sound after taking a sip of his coffee.
"Yes let us talk about what I can give you." Mr. Garret grinned at me.
I gulped nervous and gave a stiff nod. I think I'm going to pass out.
