Two chapters in one day, wow it's a miracle! In case anyone cares (I know you guys don't, just let me pretend), I quit my job recently which means much more free time (and way less money, haha) to update chapters! I can't promise there will be updates everyday, but who knows, maybe! Anyway, enjoy! Happy reading.

The biggest communication problem we have is that we listen to reply, we don't listen to understand.

Chapter 24

Mai's POV;

"Liiiiiiight!!!! Where have you been!?" Misa's voice squealed the instant Light had entered the conference room, Ryuzaki right behind him. Light sighed and ignored her, which very clearly hurt Misa's feelings. Whoever is conducting this meeting had a seating chart. I was placed in the very back by the window. Enya was seated right next to me. On the left side of the table was Ryuzaki, Light, Matsuda. On the right side was Mogi, Misa and an empty seat. The digital clock that hung above the door flashed 9:58 am in bold, red letters. I rested my forehead against the table as the my right hand instinctively grabbed hold of the necklace that Angel gave me. My eyes fell shut briefly before Enya tapped on my shoulder to get my attention. Half asleep, I bolted up and looked at him. Instead of an answer, he just nodded towards the front of the room where Tsenumori and another gentleman stood. The stranger took the empty seat that was next to Mogi. The room fell silent as Tsenuomri cleared his throat. With a mental roll of the eyes, I thought back to high school and all of my lovely memories spent in meetings like this one.

"Wow, everyone is on time for once. Shocking." Enya mumbled to me. A smirk rolled across my lips before Tsenumori started talking. This is the first time I've seen Tsenumori since the day that L was in the hospital and he still hasn't said two words to me. Before he started talking about whatever it is we were called here for, he caught my eye. He nodded an approving look to me, most likely because I was still in "professional" attire for once.

"Alright everyone. Let me start off this meeting by introducing Mr. Alwin Zsignar of the MI6. He's here to gather the information we have on the case. Considering the fact that one of his agents were killed, we can start with that report of the events that took place that night." Tsenumori's eyes were once again on me. "Ms. Penber, would you?"

My eyes fell shut as I inhaled sharply. "Of course." Quickly I stood from my seat as everyone's eyes were on me. I quickly and quietly made my way to the front of the room to retell the most horrid night of my life. "As most of you know, Angel and I were close friends, so I apologize in advance if I get emotional. The night his death took place, Mr. Zsignar, he was helping me escape an abduction. Matt had abducted me in an attempt to get back at the bureau for turning in Mello."

"Ms. Penber, do you have last names for these people?" Mr. Zsignar asked.

"Um, well actually.."

"Mail Jeevas is Matt's real name and Mihael Keehl is Mello's real name." Ryuzaki cut me off quickly.

"Thank you." Mr. Zsignar's eyes were focused on the small notepad he was writing on.

"Matt had taken me to the basement of his apartment building where Angel's thrift store was located. While there, he beat on me quite a bit. He kicked the chair I was confined to which sent me flying into a tower of boxes. Those boxes fell over and Angel must've heard the noise because he came downstairs and found me." My stomach turned as I thought of all the horrid things I encountered that night. "Angel had been carrying me back to the bureau when we ran into Ryuzaki, Enya and Light. Soon after, Mello and Matt showed up. I'm not entirely sure where Mello had come from."
