-Miranda's POV-
I wrinkled out all the wrinkles on my dress that I was wearing as I looked in the mirror. My mother had finally forced me into a dress and I was not liking one bit of it. It looked good on me but it just didn't feel right. I was use to jeans and converse not dresses and high heels. I wanted so badly to get out of this and get on a flight back home. The next worse thing after the wedding has to be the reception.
I slid on my black heels that I borrowed from my mother, since I totally spaced on packing anything fancy for the reception while packing. There was a knock on my door, after staring at the door for a few long seconds I finally walked over and opened it to see my dad standing there.
"Why don't you look beautiful?" He said, my face flushed with the color of red.
"Thanks, you don't look to bad yourself." He was wearing a royal blue dress shirt with khaki pants.
"Ready baby doll?" I nodded and grabbed my phone from off my vanity. I followed him downstairs and into the living room where I found everyone all dressed up. I looked over at Vivian who was on her knees fixing Lucas' tie. My mother had her phone out as she took pictures of me walking down.
I attempted to block it by putting my hand over my face. "Stop it mum!" I whined walking up to her and grabbing her phone.
"Please just a couple, you just look so pretty!" I shook my head no and kept her phone in my hand along with mine. I looked around and it looked like everyone was here until my dad had pointed out the only person who was missing. "Harry just texted me saying he's stuck in traffic but he'll be there on time and he will meet us there."
Harry, ah that son of a bitch eh? Sure traffic that's what's holding him up. For all we know he could be getting drugs or murdering someone.
-Later-
We were in the middle of the rehearsal when Vivian's very-annoying-yet-knows-what-she's-doing wedding planner Marsha was telling us how things were going to go down. It was only the five of us, the best men and bridesmaids there as we practiced going down the aisle with our partners. I was not enjoying any bit of it. "-and Miranda your partner is..." Marsha said looking at her clipboard. I was hoping it was my uncle Tom, he always knew how to make me laugh and have a good time.
"Harry." She continued. Shit. Exactly what I wanted to hear. I didn't even know he was a best man. I looked over at the best men all huddled in a circle starring at Uncle Richards Iphone watching the football game. You could tell none of them wanted to be here right now. Harry was no where in sight and that was fine with me.
"He should've been here by now." Vivian said worried looking at Marsha's watch. It was already 8:30 and we were all to be here at eight.
We started with the maid of honor, Vivian's sister Elizabeth walking down with Dean my fathers best friend from college. I was fourth in line out of the five, before Vivian's friend Olivia and before her other friend Bethany. "-and go." Marsha said pointing at me, I nodded and walked down the aisle feeling awkward walking by myself. I smiled as my dad was laughing at me from the front I mouthed to him 'shut up' and he held it in until I felt arms lock with mine. I looked over and saw Harry with a smirk on his face. "Thought you could use some company." He teased, I just ignored him.
"You're late." I reminded him.
"Traffic."
"So I hear." We finally parted and I got in line. I leaned forward and looked at the line of the best men and saw Harry's eyes locked on my body sending shivers running down my back.
"Alright, that's it." Marsha said clapping her hands and I heard a sense of relief coming from the line behind my dad. I walked over to my mum and she handed me my phone. "You were great."
"Thank you."
"One day you'll be the bride instead of a brides maid." She smiled pushing a piece of hair behind my ear. I laughed and took in a deep breath.
"Haven't you heard the term, once a bridesmaid, always a bridesmaid?" She laughed at me and handed me my shawl, I covered my shoulders with it, since this church was a bit to cold for my liking.
My father had insisted on taking all of us out to dinner since we weren't having a traditional dinner rehearsal after the wedding rehearsal. Once we had arrived at the restaurant which was a little to casual for a bunch of dressed up people. I took a seat down at the table next to Lucas, my mother on the other side of me. "Mind if I take a seat here?" I heard a familiar voice ask. I turned my head and saw Harry.
"Not at all."
I looked at the menu and decided I was in the mood for steak. "By the way you look nice tonight." Harry whispered in my ear. I could tell he was trying to be endearing and trying to make up for early this morning but it wasn't working. I was only gonna be here a few more days I don't need the stress. I took a deep breath and turned the other way pretending to help Lucas what he wanted.
"Are you ever gonna talk to me?" I ignored him until I felt his hand touch my knee and I whipped my head towards him slapping his hand. "Paws off." I growled.
"Look I got you to talk." He half smiled.
"Yes, now may I help you?"
"I want to apologize, for earlier."
"Look Harry, I don't know what your problem is but I know people like you and I just don't want to get involved with you."
"Involved, people like me? What's that suppose to mean?" The waiter came over and gave all of us our drinks, setting down my cola right in front of me. I grabbed the straw and banged it on the table until it popped out from the wrapper.
"It means-" I didn't even know what I mean. "-I don't know, but I-"
"You don't know anything about me princess, so don't go assuming."
His words sent shivers down my spine. "Don't call me that." I demanded.
"What? Princess? I dunno I kind of like it princess." I stood up and excused myself from the table saying I was going to go freshen up in the bathroom. When I walked into the bathroom I locked myself in a stall for a moment trying to regain my patience.
I unlocked the stall and opened it slowly to find Harry leaning up against the sink. "What the hell Harry!? You can't be in here." I said pushing him aside and looking in the mirror. I turned on the facet and filled my hands with water splashing it on my face.
"I can do whatever the hell I want too." His words infuriated me. I grabbed a paper towel from the dispenser and dabbed my face drying it. I looked over at Harry and his hands were clenching up again. He inched closer to me with every step. I walked back as well hitting the hard wall behind me.
He kept coming closer to me as I felt the warmth of his breath hit my skin. I looked at his lips, they were pink and plump. He leaned in closing his eyes looking for a kiss but before he could come closer I ducked down so now he was making out with the cold, gross tile wall of the girls bathroom. "What the fuck?" I heard him murmured. He open his eyes and stood back wiping his lips with his sleeve.
I started laughing and walked out of the bathroom heading back to the table. "Why was Harry in the girls bathroom?" Lucas whispered in my ear turning towards me.
"What are you talking about?"
"I saw him going into the bathroom. I maybe five but I'm not stupid."
"The boys bathroom was filled." I lied to him, he was definatly smart for his age. "You can do that?"
"Yeah, but let's keep it a secret between the two of us." I whispered back looking at Harry coming out of the bathroom. I laughed as he was still trying to wipe off the muck off his lips. He sat back down and didn't talk to me the rest of the dinner, just the way I wanted it.
