-Miranda's POV-
*Day later*
I was painting up in my room when my father was calling for me. It took me a minute to get up out of my position since I was so comfortable. There was paints surrounding my room on the floor. I had to step around the paint to actually get to the door. Once I was down stairs I found my father and Vivian sitting at the counter with a smile on their faces.
"Yes?" I asked.
"So next week, me and Vivian are leaving."
"Where too?"
"Bahamas for our honey moon that we never got around too." It never really sunk in that they had missed there honeymoon since they were all so caught up in the investigation for looking for me. I took a seat at the counter along with them and grabbed an orange out of the fruit basket.
They were talking all about the details, which I really didn't care at all about. I was just down there hopping someone would make dinner soon cause I was starving. So starving I even grabbed a second orange, a second. Just a little to much for me to handle. "What about Luke?"
"He's gonna stay at his grandmothers in Wolverhampton." I nodded and they continued on. At that point I had settled for another orange hopping someone would get the hint and grab a friggen pot or pan out soon. "Now as for you, we don't want you staying home alone with Harry still missing. Now is there a friend you can stay with or something?"
I thought for a moment, I had no real friends who are girls out here in London. In fact I didn't have many friends at all besides Niall, and I sure as hell wasn't gonna stay with him with his father under the same roof. No way in hell. There was always Perrie but I have no way to come in contact with any of them.
"Miranda?"
I hadn't realized I had been out of the zone until my father snapped me back in. "hmm?"
"Friend you could stay with?" He repeated himself.
"I might." I was unsure though.
"Alright, let us know soon though." and with that I was grabbing the car keys on the hook in the kitchen telling them I'd be back right before dinner, if they were ever gonna make dinner that is.
I was going to the one place where I knew there might be somebody to talk to about all of this. I needed to ask him if he gave Harry the letter and if he responded. But in reality is was the one person where i had contact to Harry whenever I needed it. I needed Harry, I wanted him.
It took me about twenty minutes before I reached the parking lot at the mall, pulling only two spaces over where I had parked the other day when I was here with Luke.
I entered Toys-R-Us just hoping that maybe Louis would be here so I can get contact with Perrie or anyone really. I missed Zayn as well, he did only save my ass at least twice that I can think of. When I walked in there was no sign of Louis at the cashiers, I went to the managers room and asked If Louis was in today and he said he had taken a sick day.
Shit, now what was I gonna do? I wondered around the store for a bit before leaving and going back to my car back in the parking lot. When I got in my car I tried starting it up but it wouldn't. The gas gage said full, but my engine said dead. I didn't want to call my father and worry him much more then he already is. I grabbed my phone and called the one other number that's in my phone who's from London.
"Hello?"
"Niall?" I asked
"Hey what's up?"
"My car broke down and I need a lift."
"Alright, where are you?"
"Mall, outside of Toys-R-Us."
"Really aren't you a little too old to be there?" I could hear him snickering through the other end of the phone. He's lucky that I can't punch him in the throat.
"Hey Niall?"
"Hmm?"
"You feel that?"
"Feel what?"
"I'm choking you, through the phone."
"Alright I'll be there in a few minutes."
While sitting in the car I decided to play temple run. Every once in a while, if look up to see if I could spot Niall's car. I noticed that a black SUV had gone pass my card at least four times since I've been sitting here. The license plate very similar to what I can remember to the one that is outside my house always waiting for me. It was getting pretty creepy at this point and I was hoping that Niall would get here a little bit faster then he said he would.
A few minutes later Niall had pulled up beside me honking the horn twice. He got out of the car as well as I and I met him at the hood of my car. I popped open the hood for him as he took a look. "Your spark plug is missing."
"What how?"
"I don't know, where you messing around with your car?" He asked, I shook my head no and explained it was working before I went into the store. He called a toy truck to bring it to his friends Auto Body shop who could possibly find a spark plug for my car by morning. "What were you doing here anyway?"
"Looking for a friend who works here."
"You must have some weird friends."
"Well you're my friend."
"Nough said."
I slapped him in the arm and then we both got in the car. I buckled up watching him as he backed up from his parking spot. "You wanna go out some where?" He asked running his fingers through his thick dirty blonde hair.
"I don't know do I?"
"You do."
"Alright, where should we go?"
"I know a place." He smirked. Sadly I trusted him so I was gonna let him do his worse and let him take me where ever the hell he had in mind. We drove a bit of ways before pulling into a familiar parking lot. I smiled and then looked at him. "Oh my god." My mouth must have dropped to the ground of the car.
"You like?"
"Love."
I immediately knew where we were, because Niall and I use to come here all the time in the summer when he would come up for a week. I would usually spend sometime down at the lake house near his in Ireland, and he would spend a week up here in London. The place was completely abandoned not a car in sight for the longest mile. I got out of the car and looked up at the old water tower where Niall and I use to constantly climb the latter and write our names at the top with every year we had visited.
"I believe we forgot 2013."
"We did indeed." I laughed. He went to the back of his car and got out some spray paint he claims he was using to paint his dogs house. He handed me one and then I slammed the trunk shut walking up to the water tower. I looked up and saw it was a long climb up, I went first knowing Niall is too weak. I put the spray paint in my arm pit so I had both arms to climb up with. 150 steps later we were at the very top.
The sun was setting as I looked out waiting for Niall to join me up here. He finally joined me and we leaned out across the railing watching the sun go down slowly. I then turned around and saw all my names that I had written in the pass with the year written underneath. My hands ran across each one starting from 2007 to 2012, and now I was about to write 2013.
I shook up the can and then started spray painting my name next to 2012 covering my mouth and nose with my T-shirt. Once I was done I admired my name written in brown spray paint, not the prettiest color but it was good. "It's nice to have you up here Niall," I told him, he turned to me and smiled.
"Nice to be here." I walked back to the railing admiring the last few seconds of the sun on the horizon. My hands were on the railing and a few seconds in I felt my hand touching another. I looked over to Niall to see he was trying to grab my hand while he scooted closer but I pulled away and walked over to the ladder and started to climb down.
"Miranda!" I heard him yell my name as I took every step down back to the great ground that mother nature had given us. Once my feet had touched the ground I started walking towards Niall's car. He caught up to me and I could hear he was out of breath after running the distance from the car to the water tower, he probably should have parked closer.
"Miranda, I'm sorry I didn't mean to-" He started off saying as his hand reached for my shoulder.
"Niall it's fine."
"No I'm sorry. I guess I still have a bit of a crush on you." That's when my eyes widened. The thought of Niall ever having a crush on me, confuses me. I'm not sure if I should feel flattered or disgusted.
"Crush? Crush on me? Since when?"
"7th grade."
"Even when I still had braces and glasses?" I asked, he chuckled and then nodded.
"Yeah I thought you were the prettiest girl in the world." I smiled knowing that Niall thought I was pretty before I had hit puberty like most gys who had finally memorized my name after that summer of eighth grade.
I turned around and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm flattered Niall but things are just not in a good place for me."
"Is there someone?" He interrupted me.
"What?"
"Is there someone, who you have your eye on?"
"Um.. yeah I guess you could say that."
"Then he is one lucky guy." I smiled and got into the car. Yeah too bad he just doesn't know it yet.
After the car ride home, Niall had dropped me in front of the house. I had agreed to have him pick me up in the morning to pick up the car. He had insisted on walking me up to the door but I had told him it was fine. I slammed the car door shut and waved as he drove off. I looked across the street to see that black SUV in the same spot. I took a quick glance and then started to walk up the steps into the house.
I walked into the house and my father was finally making dinner.
"Was that Niall who you were with?" He asked.
"Yeah."
"There was a call for you earlier, Detective wants you at the station tomorrow afternoon."
"Sounds fun." I sarcastically said before I grabbed the plates and silverware, setting up for dinner. The one thing I wanted when this night started.
