---Felix' POV---
Milo will be okay... he'll wake up and be fine.
At least, that's what I've been thinking to myself as I rocked back and forth in my corner, unable to stop my humming or communicate in any way. I knew dad was worried, mom was on her way here and even asked Charlie to come over and translate.
But I couldn't stop swaying, the steady hum and rocking motion the only thing that kept my mind from going insane, wondering when and if I was going to see Milo again.
He's been in there for hours!
"The vet is still operating on Milo. He'll be okay Felix, you know he can pull through. The vet is even calling in a colleague who's specialized in wolves and a wolf recovery center." Dad murmured while sitting down on the floor beside me but made sure not to sit right next to me.
I appreciated that. I didn't want to be touched, even though I was still covered in Milo's blood. Blood that was drying up on my cheek and hands but I didn't care. I wasn't able to move, not unless I could see Milo, see him panting and acting like a pup.
My eyes darted for the sliding doors as they opened, seeing three large men step inside and file into the waiting room. A fourth darted further inside, introducing himself as the wolf vet Adam. I blinked, hopeful that he might help Milo.
"You okay kid?"
One of the strangers deep voice rumbled through the room as I kept rocking back and forth, leaving my father to sigh softly. "I'm sorry, Felix is... distraught. We brought in his only friend, badly injured."
The man nodded in understanding, "Yeah, it can be hard to lose a pet." I bared my teeth at that with a low growl, gaining three very curious looks as the men sniffed the air. Milo wasn't a pet. He was my friend, my pup. I wasn't going to lose Milo.
Never.
"Dimitri, you did tell Adam where to go, right?"
The man on the left, who had spoken up the first time, scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Quite obvious, he knows where to go Greg. Stop being such a grump." The third man laughed as Greg glared at Dimitri.
"Grumpy cause he can't get his hands on Seth..." He murmured, easily blocking Greg's punch as the man growled. "Fuck off Terrance. You were whining about Mike all the way up here."
Terrance, Greg and Dimitri perked up as the vet came back in, looking at the men confused before nodding. "Ah, I see. You're from the wolf sanctuary? I'll talk to you in a bit, but these men here are the ones who've brought the wolf in. Its recovering well from surgery and should be well enough to be transported in another hour."
My head snapped up, eyes widening as I froze. Milo.
---Milo's POV---
My head felt so heavy as I slowly lifted it. I couldn't even open my eyes, yet my nose sniffed the air sharply.
...Where...
...Where's... Felix...
My nose bumped against something cool and when I tried to stand up, I flopped down with a whine. I still couldn't feel my right leg, but maybe that was the chemicals I scented in my body. I didn't care for that though.
Where's my boy?!
Slowly and with a lot of effort, I managed to open my eyes, only to feel fear slam in my chest as my heart started racing. I clearly remembered Felix' father talking about bringing me to the vet...yet I wasn't in a vet's office at all.
