---Felix' POV---
The sun was rather bright, making me blink several times against the glare before I simply rolled over and curled further against Milo. Even in his human form, he was happy to pull me closer to him and snuggle up to me.
Ear resting against his chest, my eyes closed as I relaxed to the soothing rhythm of his strong heartbeat. It nearly lulled me to sleep as it was accompanied with the steady inhale and exhale, moving my head and rocking me back and forth.
Opening my eyes, they followed a few of the wolves playing around in the grass, prancing around and playfully nipping at the other's fur. In between their paws, the growing pup was trying to snap his teeth around one of the wagging tails that flew past its muzzle.
Wyatt sat close by, chuckling and shaking his head at the youngster. "Oh Koda, you silly little pup." He help open his arms as the pup turned around and bounded towards his father.
Father... my eyes flitted to the side, where my parents sat on a bench overlooking the pack. Already I felt calmer and more relaxed than ever, surrounded by strangers rather than my own family.
But still, I knew what the pack offered me and I realized that even though they knew it was the best option, it hurt my parents feelings. Ever since their breakdown, where I had heard them whispering when I'd been faking sleep, they had been on their own, talking things out.
My fingers curled around Milo's arm a bit tighter, which prompted him to pull me closer against his side, his fingers tangling in my hand to give them a reassuring squeeze. A small yet meaningful reminder that we'd never ever be apart.
Stretching out, I yawned and smiled when Milo yawned as well, licking his lips before glancing up. Following his eyes, I frowned when I noticed Terrance trying to sneak closer to us, only to be stopped by his mate time and time again.
He's been doing that all week...why does he need to speak to us?
I tilted my head, frowning as I glanced from Mike's bright red cheeks to Terrance's sheepish grin as he glanced down at his mate. Surely if it was something important, Mike would let Terrance talk to us?
A nose nudged my cheek and I smiled, tilting my head up so that Milo could eagerly kiss my lips. It was a tender and sweet kiss, one that made my stomach heat up and muscles quiver oddly before he backed up and sniffed at my hair. A low growl rumbled through his chest as he snuggled closer, cradling my head under his chin, which rubbed in slow circles over my head.
Sighing happily, I simply closed my eyes and relaxed in Milo's hold. Nothing was better than resting here in his arm, laying against his body and enjoying the warmth of the sun.
His fingers danced over my skin absentmindedly, brushing back and forth in a barely there caress. Goosebumps chased after his digits, making me shiver as the skin underneath his hand heated up, seemingly more sensitive to his touch.
Milo sniffed at my hair again, growling as we heard one of the wolves approach hesitantly. What surprised me though was that Milo instantly shifted when the wolf wagged its tail and sniffed the air, taking a few steps closer.
My fingers curled in Milo's fur as he stepped over my legs so they were underneath his body, his tail curling over his back as he growled lowly and with warning. The other wolf whined sharply, causing me to cringe and hold my ears at the harsh noise.
Several of the pack looked over, watching curiously as Milo faced off with the wolf in a silent staring match until it backed off. Milo snorted, the dark grey fur on his shoulders settling down as he turned around and sniffed at my face happily.
