---Milo's POV---
My nostrils flared as I came down the stairs, wolf instantly on high alert and seeking out Felix. Usually he was in our room, staying with me until I woke up but today I woke to him not being there.
I nearly slipped as I landed with force on the carpet down the stairs, skidding a few inches before managing to stay upright. A few eyebrows raised and grins slowly spread but I didn't pay them any mind.
Felix...
Dizziness filled my body as my heart raced at the lack of Felix, leaving me to wonder if his parents came back and took him away from me. A low snarl slipped my lips before I relax when I skidded into the kitchen, blushing as Felix looked up from the table with a questioning look on his face.
Swallowing heavily, I walked closer, cuddling into the crook of his neck and inhaling deeply to calm myself down. He was safe. He was still here. I felt a gentle tap on my arm, making me look up in Felix' stunning eyes and smiled when he didn't even need to ask.
I was curious though why he came down here on his own. As he pushed his seat back a bit, I instantly noticed he was donned in a big sweater, shivering slightly. The second I saw him shiver and heard the barely audible sound of his teeth clicking together, my wolf responded.
Felix sighed the very instant my arm wrapped around him, nuzzling my bare shoulder and curling up in my lap. A low growl resonated through my chest as his cold nose pressed against my skin, my wolf unhappy with our mate being so cold.
Why was he feeling so cold?
I lapped at his cheek and nuzzled in his hair, trying my best to cover him up and keep him warm. To be honest, Felix looked absolutely miserable, drowning in the sweater that was easily three sizes bigger than him. He shivered and curled up even more, pulling his knees underneath the sweater as I held him in my arms.
The chair across from us scraped over the floor and I growled, eyes zoning in on Marcus as he held up his hands. Marcus' eyes flicked to the side, where Alpha Lee was standing on the phone , motion with his hands in what seemed to be a heated conversation.
I could barely catch enough of the conversation to make sense, only hearing something about the odds being a thousand to one if it happened. If what happened? What was wrong with Felix?
My wolf felt agitated, growling and panting at everyone. All my senses were on high alert, wondering what the hell was going on and why nobody was explaining anything. Why weren't they helping Felix?
Nudging against Felix' mind, I initially felt nothing but a sense of confusion and cold before a small hint of pain bloomed in his stomach. Marcus sighed as I nuzzled Felix and whined, feeling as miserable as he was feeling, knowing I couldn't help him in any way.
"We don't think it's his Heat." Marcus spoke softly, lowering his voice as Felix whined at the sound. Even Alpha Lee flinched before backing out of the doorway, the sound of a door closing cutting off his muted conversation.
He didn't continue, simply stared at Felix with curiosity and shock. I bared my teeth, unable to use sign language to ask him so I grumbled and managed to growl out, "What!"
It was enough to make Marcus look up in shock, eyebrows raised in surprise as I barely ever spoke. My wolf was used to be in charge and thus, I hardly used words. Even with Felix, sign language was preferred over talking, if we didn't use our unique link in the first place.
Marcus simply sighed as he raised his hands once more, as if in a sign of surrender or defeat. "We can't know for certain, Alice is looking things up while Alpha Lee is trying to find other packs that have a similar case like this." The sound of furniture breaking and glass shattering made everyone cringe.
