---Milo's POV---
A few days had passed since I just shifted, days where I had learned how to walk on these flimsy legs of mine. Luckily Felix didn't seem to mind following me around and keeping me on my feet.
Even Zayne had popped his head in at times, speaking of his own experience though he was never alone. Marcus was nearly always near his mate, keeping an eye on Zayne or cuddled the pup close to his chest whenever he had shifted.
It made me wonder why my nest mate was so painfully shy and almost fearful. What happened to him? I wanted to ask but there was something in me that refrained from doing so. Perhaps it was better not knowing his past since it might open up old wounds.
The clinking of cutlery made me look up to see Felix making his way over while balancing two bowls in his hands. I quickly reached over to grab both, allowing him to sit down without spilling anything before he retrieved his own bowl with a smile.
As always, the pack was watching our every move. They were confused on how, even if we've never spoken to one another in a full conversation, we seemed to know exactly how the other felt and acted in response.
They just didn't know how strong our bond was. Even know I knew that Felix waited with his soup because he wanted to dip his bread into it. My eyes fell to the plate the bowl was resting on and I smiled as, like expected, the little cup of butter was resting against the hot bowl.
It had been one of many quirks that Felix had; Even though he liked to do things on his own, small freedoms I had learned his parents unknowingly had denied him, he really hated it when the butter tore up his bread.
I huffed softly as Felix nudged the little cup, testing its temperature and I could swear that he was about to drop the cup into his soup to speed up the melting process. Luckily it was deemed soft enough to spread over his bread and I could see the satisfied glint in his eyes when he could finally eat.
Sure, I could've offered him one of my own slices but that meant taking away this small thing that made him happy. So I didn't. His happiness was all I cared about, since he was the first person ever to care about me.
Unconsciously my fingers reached up to my shoulder, where I rubbed over the smooth skin. It tingled ever so softly when my fingers made contact, even through the thin shirt I wore. Another hand tangled with mine and I leaned into the touch, silently reassuring Felix I was okay with it.
It had been tough at first, losing a limb. One of the pack members, Alice, was researching if limbs grew back on werewolves but so far she hadn't found any positive results. I blamed being a wolf for so long for my lack of interest. The limb was gone, it might grow back, it might not.
I could deal with either.
So I turned around, wanting to reassure Felix I was fine but froze as he was closer than I had expected.
A lot closer.
I expected he wanted to nuzzle my cheek in a reassuring gesture before I had turned around because now, we were so close we shared the same breath. Felix eyes widened comically as we were both frozen, noses brushing together as each one of us waited what the other would do.
There was a strange feeling in my stomach, an odd tightening sensation and heat pooling in my crotch before Felix moved the slightest bit forwards, and pressed our lips together briefly. My eyes widened at the burst of sensations that went through my body.
On one end, I've never felt so calm in my life. I was home. Finally at peace. On the other end my wolf was going out of its mind, howling constantly as tingles spread from our joined lips and all over my body. My muscles seemed to vibrate with life and energy while my eyes drooped.
Suddenly Felix backed up, his cheeks exploding in a deep red as he averted his eyes and bit his lower lip. I licked my own lips, still watching Felix before my wolf pushed forwards, urging me to get another sample.
Just as Felix looked up at me, probably to figure out my reaction to this new behavior, my fingers tangled in his hair before I gently tugged him to me. Felix blushed even more as our lips connected, squealing as the force I had used to pull him to me had pushed us off balance and ended with us sprawled over the couch, dinner forgotten.
There were a few distant chuckles that faintly registered in my mind, resulting in a small growl to slip out as a warning to the present wolves. I didn't know why doing this with Felix felt so amazing, why it made my heart race and body heat up.
I did however knew that I was beyond happy when Felix drew back slightly, only to tuck his head under my throat and sigh contently. My arm wrapped around him as I nuzzled his hair, enjoying the soft scent that came from it.
"Maybe...someone should explain them about mates and what it all entails..."
"Shhh, later. Leave them be for now."
I didn't focus on their whispered conversation, just simply closed my eyes as I held Felix close to me. Whatever they wanted to talk about, it could wait. All I wanted was for this moment to last forever.
Felix seemed to think the same way, as every time I moved the slightest bit, his fingers would tug on my clothes, as if preparing to pull me back again.
I wasn't going to leave anytime soon.
The door creaked slightly as Dorian pushed it open with a troubled expression, sharing a look with Lee before glancing our way. The Alpha sighed and nodded, rubbing his face before turning our way.
"Felix, your parents are here to see you. We can either reveal ourselves to them but we need to know they will keep our secret. That or Milo has to shift back so they think nothing is out of the ordinary."
I didn't want to let Felix go but from his deep sigh, I knew what his decision was. His parents would never be able to wrap their minds around this odd truth. Hell, they could hardly wrap their minds around their son and his condition.
Alice did explain to me that Felix suffered from Autism, hence some of his 'odd' quirks but I didn't mind. It made him who he was.
Mine.
It only took a few seconds to shift back, before I stretched myself with a whine and hopped off the couch. No doubt Felix' parents were going to rush him and I didn't want them to antagonize him in any shape or form.
That is why, when they entered the room, I rose my hackles and snarled in warning. The elder man that stepped in seemed to recognize me instantly while I growled and paced slightly in front of the couch. Luckily he was able to keep his wife from running towards Felix and instead they gently walked closer.
Felix's cousin, Matthew, walked in behind them. Both he and Charlie were having a whispered conversation that seemed more like a silent argument. At one point I caught Matthew scowling at Dimitri, who was keeping himself to the far side of the room.
Dimitri didn't react, other than to glare at where Matthew's arm was wrapped around Charlie's waist. I didn't exactly know what was going on between those three but when Charlie sighed and tugged Matthew away for some privacy, I could tell that Dimitri was seconds from following the pair.
Well, whatever was their problem, I hoped they'd settle it amongst themselves. I already didn't like Felix' parents but I didn't want any more turmoil in his life by bickering couples and cousins getting hurt.
Licking my lips, I hopped back on the couch and curled up almost on top of Felix's lap. He didn't seem to mind the weight of my wolf and actually curled himself around me, burying his face in my fur with a happy grin.
I kept my eyes on his parents, wondering why they were here and what they wanted. I just hoped they weren't here to take Felix back home.
That would destroy me.
