It's the morning after the night I had with Newt. When I woke up to the sound of the alarm going off, I actually wasn't grouchy this morning. Guess last night really was what I needed. It felt good to reconnect with him, not just sexually and physically but emotionally too. I really hope when I see him that he's as happy as I am.
Like any other day we all do our usual routine. The only exception was when we was having our small talk walking to breakfast Teresa asked me about last night, "So did you sleep better after you got back last night?" She asked
"Yeah that walk really helped me." I replied trying to look casual.
"You went walking last night?" Daniel piped in and asked, "where?"
"Just down the hallway and back a couple of times." I replied.
He nodded his head and didn't say anything else about it, nobody did actually. Thank God they bought what I said and didn't keep asking me questions.Needless to say, I was very happy to see that Newt was also as happy as me. Breakfast was just like every other day, except I couldn't help but notice that something was off. There was more guards in here today; and they had more weapons than usual.
"Has anyone else noticed the extra security in this place or is it just me?" I ask all the gladers that are in earshot of me.
"Yeah, I noticed as soon as we got in here." said Alby.
"Now that you mention it, yeah I do see more guards." said Thomas.
"I wonder why though." said Newt.
"I don't know, but I'm starting to not like this." said Minho.
"Maybe they realized just how many people are in here?" I suggest.
"They knew from the beginning how many people they rescued so I don't see how they didn't realize it before now." Reasoned Thomas. He was right though; I'm not going to worry too much about it, but I'm definitely going to keep that in mind. When I get back to my room I ask the others if they noticed the guards too.
Surprisingly, Aris was the first one to respond, "Yeah I seen them, and their guns too."
"No I didn't pay attention." said Teresa. It doesn't shock me that she didn't notice.
"It's probably nothing to worry about anyway." said Daniel not even looking at me. Maybe they're right and it is nothing, or maybe they're dead wrong and it's definitely something. Sadly the only thing I can do is wait and find out.*le time skipeth*
For the past two days at breakfast, lunch, and dinner those guards are still there. And I noticed that in between meals there has been more guards and other lab coat people running around. I'm starting to not like this at all.
Low and behold! At the end of lunch today James walks into the cafeteria; and he only shows up when he has some business he needs to take care of.
"Listen up!" James yells, "Go back to your rooms and pack any belongings that you might have. We're relocating in an hour so be ready when my mem come to escort you!""Relocating?" I question looking at Newt.
"I don't know love, but we need to just go and do what they say. I'll find you later okay?"
"Okay." I say with a sigh and Newt gives me a kiss on the cheek before we head back to our soon to be old rooms. I didn't have much to pack, that didn't even make sense to me when he told us to "pack" because we don't even have anything, but whatever. All I have is my watch and the necklace Newt made me back in the glade.I pass the time by relaxing in my bed while I still can and ask Teresa, Daniel, and Aris if they find this whole relocating thing strange too. As usual I get nothing useful out of these people. I cannot understand how they are so willing to listen to these people without even having a question about it. Either way, soon enough 4 men open our door without even knocking first, rude, and tell us to follow them. As we are escorted I notice the lack of people around us. I guess they got each room individually so it'd be less chaotic.
"Get on that bus." The closest guard said pointing to the last of the 4 buses. Oh God what if Thomas and Newt are on a different bus?
Of course that's my luck, when I get on the bus I scan every row of seats and neither of them are to be found. Of course they'd be on a different bus, why would we be on the same bus going God knows where? At least I spot Chuck sitting by himself waving at me. Good, now i can watch him and I don't have to sit with someone I don't know. Or worse, any of the people I was rooming with.
This was a good chance for me and Chuck to catch up. I haven't really talked to him since we got here which makes me feel bad. I knew he was with Thomas and the rest of the gladers though so I knew he was safe. I loved talking to Chuck, he can brighten up anyone's day.
I don't know where we're going, but I wish we'd get there sometime today. It's already been like 3 hours.
Guess I spoke too soon cause about 30 minutes later I see another building in the distance that looks identical to the other one. As the bus comes to a halt, I grab Chucks hand and lead him off the bus with me.
"Try to find the others." I say to Chuck as soon as our feet hit the sand.
"Over there." He says pointing to our left. We jog over to them and start asking the basic boring questions. "How was the bus ride?" "Is everyone here?" "Holy shit where are we?" Ya know the usual.James is obviously at the front of the crowd yelling at us to get inside. I'm feeling some dé já vú here. Because once everyone is inside the big doors slam shut behind us just like they did last time.
James yells at us all to be quiet and then a woman I didn't even see starts speaking once every is quiet.
"My name is Rebecca everyone." She starts, like we care. "I need a few of you to come with me after I call your names then the rest of you will follow James." She turns a page on her clipboard and starts calling off the names, "Teresa, (y/n), Aris, and Daniel."Okay what the fuck?
