-Your Point of View-
I woke up to the smell of coffee and cinnamon. I rolled over to see that Hunter was already out of bed. Hurriedly I dashed down the spiral staircase to see him working on breakfast in the kitchen.
"MERRRY CHRISTMASSS" I yelled jumping onto his back like a kid. "Whoa Erin!" He smiled and turned towards me. "Good morning." He grabbed my face and gave me a kiss. "You excited?"
"Very! You're never too old to be excited for Christmas!" He flashed me a smile, "Well, it's good to see you're happy. Spending Christmas with a Scourge is no fun." "True that!" He turned back to the counted he was facing and brought a big plate of cinnamon rolls over to me.
"Here, eat up." I picked the one with the most frosting. "Soo...good." I managed to say between mouthfuls. I saw Hunter leaning against the counter looking at me nervously.
"Are you ok?" I asked him seriously. "Yeah..fine why?" "You just seem...tense. That's all."
"Oh..no I'm not." He walked away from the counter adverting his eyes from mine. He continued talking, "The boys are over here in two hours. Almost all of the food is done, and all the presents are under the tree." He clapped his hands together, "We're all set."
He was beginning to sound like himself again. I refused to let his strange attitude ruin this day. I was guessing it was just the nerves from all the boys being over that was throwing him off. He was a perfectionist after all.
Finishing the last bite of my cinnamon roll I made my way to him giving him a hug. I could feel how tense he was. "Relax." I whispered, studying his face. "It's all going to be alright."
"I hope." He whispered back. I gave him a kiss and pulled apart.
"I'm going to go take a shower and get ready!" I yelled running back up the stairs.
One shower later I was at my vanity finishing up my hair. It now fell it long loose curls down my back. My eyes had a shimmery powder dusted over them and I was in a nice formal knee length party dress. H wrapped his arms around me from behind and said softly, "You look gorgeous."
"Why thank you," I responded, "You look quite nice yourself." He was wearing a dark pair of jeans with his new brown leather jacket he loved so much. He laughed softly then looked at his watch. "They will be here in about 20 minuets, are you ready?" "Yes, I am."
We made our way down the stairs and started getting the food prepared. The band eats like their starving, and we've learned always to have the food ready. Exactly on the clock we heard our football ring. I opened the door almost to be toppled by the band rushing in.
"Sorry Erin, it's just bitter cold out there." Sam explained to be, helping me regain my balance." I laughed a little, "It's all good."
"Should we eat first or open presents?" I saw Andy setting down the gifts they had brought with them under the tree.
"Life's short, got for the presents." Hunter retorted. "Okay then!" I laughed sitting down onto the couch. Hunter began passing out everyone's gifts till they all had a small pile. Back and forth we opened gifts until the floor had been covered in a sea of wrapping paper.
"I think...I think that's it." Devo announced looking around. "Good I'm starving." Matt replied.
"Wait..." We all looked at Sam who was reaching back for behind the tree, reappearing with a small package in his hands. "What's this?" He asked openly. Calmly Hunter took the box from him, and turned to me.
"Erin.. These last few years with you...have been the best I have ever had."
My face felt hot. Was this what I thought it was?
He continued: "I find myself always wanting to be with you. Dreading the nights we are apart. I don't want to spend anytime away from you that I can help. I-...I love you."
He opened the box and a gorgeous ring appeared.
"Will you marry me?" I kept into his arms crying, "Yes...Yes!" I heard whistling and clapping but all my attention was on Hunter. "I love you Erin." He whispered softly to me.
"I love you too."
