Don't let her pay for anything
The quick "grabbing a coffee" thing turned into a "going home, showering and meeting for dinner" thing and because of that we were out until twelve PM and then came back home all tired and exhausted. Yet I wasn't complaining. It was an amazing day. When I woke up this morning I found a paper next to me from Matty saying he was out the day meeting his boss. I didn't know exactly what to do so I started with making myself breakfast. I wasn't that hungry the last two days since I ate for an entire year the day before and was trying to not gain too much weight from that. I always thought I would feel different, bad and down, after I told people about how I felt after she had died and I did feel different but not in a bad way. I felt released like a lot of weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I didn't have to pretend in front of my people that I didn't care and I could show my real feelings. Ty jumped onto the counter while Josh ran around my legs making me jump in shock. "Guys! You gave me a heart attack. What is up? Are you hungry? Sure you are, wait a second!" I said before walking over to the edge where we placed all the cat and dog food. Well mostly dog food because Ty preferred it.
When I was done with eating breakfast I pace around the living room trying to come up with an idea for any kind of occupation. When there weren't any good ideas I decided to take Ty and Josh out for a walk. At first I tried to reach Tracy over her phone but nobody picked up so I figured she had her own kind of occupation with Ky. I grabbed the leashes and then called for Ty and Josh which came at once. I made sure to grab some money from the secret money place Matty had in case I wanted an ice cream and headed out of the door.
Once I reached Central Park I let out a long sigh breathing in and letting the smell of nature fill up my nose. I used to visit a mountain area with my parents every year and in winter we would always go skiing so I love the nature and all that but I haven't been out in the nature for ages. For six years to be exact. Because I felt my good mood fading I quickly brushed the thought about it away and put on a happy smile. "Sammy? Is that you?" I heard a familiar voice squealing from behind me but I couldn't figure out who it was. When I turned around utter shock was plastered all over my face. I was standing face to face to a girl also called Samantha. We used to be best friends back in kindergarten before I met Tracy. After I had met her Sam and I weren't that inseparable anymore because I couldn't understand why I should just have one close friend. And after elementary school we lost contact. I hadn't seen her until now. Memories of our time and pictures flashed through my mind. We really were inseparable and people used to call us Sam and Sammy. We shared everything, had the plan to marry at the same date when we were grown up, wanted to live next to each other and our daughters were supposed to be best friends too. "How have you been darling? It has been ages! God wasn't it since high school started that we lost contact?" she asked as she pulled me into a hug. "Sam! Yes it has! I did quite good what about you?" I answered. "Well" she began before pushing me down onto a bench nearby. Then she hold out her right hand where a diamond ring was placed. I let out a gasp because it was really, really, really beautiful! "I am getting married!" she squealed. My eyes moved up from her hand to meet hers "That is amazing!" She let out a chuckle "I know! And he is so too. You have to come. Will you be my maid of honor? My parents wont let a friend of me be it because they say I don't know them long enough so I had to ask my cousin. And if you can remember I can not stand her! But if you would do it, it would be first of all amazing for me and then it would also be okay with my parents! There is nearly nobody who knows me better than you do!" I was speechless at this. We didn't meet since years and now she asked me to be her maid of honour?"I guess I would like to" I answered slowly not sure what else to answer. She smiled happily at my words "Perfect! So could we meet tomorrow? Because the wedding is in four days and tomorrow we could make a dress fitting and then on the day of the wedding there will be pictures taken! Do you have a boyfriend you can bring with you? He could be the best man because honestly the planned one just got ill and wont make it to the wedding!"
Was she really suggesting to take a completely stranger as the best man of her fiancé? That sounded totally like her!
"Well I am not dating anybody right now, but I am living with a boy together right now because of weird happenings I will explain to you later. However he is like my best friend so I believe he will do it! But are you sure you want a completely stranger as the best man?" She thought about it for a second obviously not getting what was wrong about that idea and then nodded "Sure! That sounds awesome. So tell me about this boy you want to invite while we walk over to next Starbucks. I need a coffee or I will die!" She didn't change at least a bit since I had last met her. Since elementary school, wasn't that just weird?
We entered the café shortly after that and ordered our drinks. I was just about to pay when someone pushed my hand down and paying by himself "I will get this." I looked up and saw Matty smiling at me. "Really? I wasn't shopping or anything, just buying some beverages! And I wouldn't even use my money. I got yours!" I asked annoyed. He gave me an amused look "I wont let you pay for anything, it is too close to going shopping so yeah." I let out a long sigh in defeat and walked over to were Sam was waiting. "Who is that? A cute admirer of yours?" she asked watching Matty while he ordered a drink by himself. "Nah, he is the future best man of your fiancé! He is somewhat my coach that's why he paid my drink..." I answered. Sam didn't look like she was following my thoughts but didn't ask further because Matty walked up to us. He flashed Sam a smile "Hey I am Matty, a friend of Sammy and you are?" She hold out her hand all cherish, a huge smile plastered on her face "Samantha, but you can call me Sam! I am Sammy's best friend from kindergarten time." He nodded before looking at me. "Well Matty there are some news! Well actually about three" I started but Sam interrupted me "I am going to marry in four days, Sammy over here will be my maid of honor and you darling will be Toms best man!" Matty looked confused for a second before his eyes grew wide after realizing what he had just been told "Don't you think it would be kind of weird? I mean I don't even know Tom..." Sam made a hand gesture dedicating that he shouldn't care "Don't worry. You are lovely, way better than my farthest cousin from Ireland and besides you and Sammy will look so cute together on the pictures!" At those words my cheeks heated up and out of the corner of my eyes I could tell Matty blushed too. "Okay, if that really isn't a problem for you then I will gladly accept the offer!" Matty answered. Sam clapped her hands together "Perfect! So there will be a fitting for Sammy's dress tomorrow and you can come along so we can also fit your suit."

"What exactly was all of this about?" Matty asked when we were seated in a cab going back home. "Well Sam and I were best friends in kindergarten but because she didn't accept the fact that I could have two very good friends we drifted apart during elementary school. When high school started we lost every kind of contact and didn't meet until we bumped into each other today in Central Park. She told me that she would be getting married in five days and because she doesn't like her cousin she asked me to be the maid in honor. And then she asked if I had a boyfriend who would like to join the wedding and she came up with this idea of the best man and I told her I didn't but I have you and well that is how we happened to be in this position!" Sam had explained everything about his job and the wedding in general and then we had said goodbye meeting for the next day. "Okay I still don't get it, but the fact that she is your best friend, or was whatever is enough for me to be up for it. At least you help me with getting a better job!" h nudged me with his elbow giving me a wink. I couldn't help but laugh at this. "So do you want to explain to me why you couldn't let me pay by myself?" I asked. "Well I was in the same café for the meeting with my boss and when I saw you I thought it wouldn't really help you paying anything when you aren't allowed to go shopping so that's why I paid for you!" he replied. I wasn't really satisfied with the answer but I also knew I wouldn't get a better one so I just let it pass. Actually it was somehow cute that Matty was that thoughtful!
It was a weird day. Who would have thought that I would actually meet Sam again today and become her maid of honor?
