"Oh, don't be sad, we can still be friends" – she said with a fake pout on her face.

"Yeah, yeah sure, my grandma can give us her blessing" – I said as I used my powers to direct all the shattered glass on her.

"I can tell that you are upset, angry, confused, surprised..." - I saw a smile on her face; she must've been really satisfied with herself.

"Is that what you think?" – I said with a fake smile on my face.

She just returned that smile.

"Come on, darling, I may be disappointed in you but surprised, no, never surprised... I knew all along." – I said to her and let the shreds of glass cut the air towards her as I watched that smile from before disappear.

72 hours earlier

Today I woke up happy for the first time in a really, really long time. It was a beautiful day outside and I talked to my dad almost whole night. I told him everything, about my grandma, my powers, my parents...

I decided, since everything is going better, that I will talk to my dear grandma.

I called her and we made plans for tonight's dinner. After that I took a bit longer shower.

When I got out of the shower I had to pick out an outfit and that took a long time. In the end I put on a black dress with daisies, pendant gold necklace, brown hat, white cardigan and some sunglasses.

It was 12 am and I was late for my little coffee date with Ian.

I rushed through the door and headed to coffee shop. That coffee shop was rather beautiful one with big windows that provided from floor to roof, flowers everywhere and that is just outside...When I came in I saw Ian; he was sitting on one of the chairs.

"Always on time, are you Hope?" – he said with a smile on his face as he got up to escape the chair so I can sit.

"It really wasn't my fault this time." – I said as I returned that smile.

We continued to talk and laugh until it was time to go.

Elijah's POV

I walked into our living room and saw my dear brother talking to phone with someone and it was rather confusing.

"If she is not dead by tonight, I'll be happy to take some extreme measures" – I heard him say angrily and saw him throw that phone at the wall smashing it into pieces.

"To whom were you talking, if I may ask?"- I asked him as I slowly closed the distance between us.

"It's none of your concern" – he replied rudely. I saw that he had no intention what so ever to answer me.

"You don't have to tell me, but I'm advising you not to do anything you will regret later" – as that words came out of my mouth he disappeared.

Hope's POV

After my little date with Ian, that went great by the way, I promised Hayley I would go on lunch with her. My relationship with her was really good. We found out a lot about each other and I couldn't deny the resemblance, not in the looks, but in character and life generally.

We were planning on going to this little diner that exuded New Orleans vibes; wooden walls with a lot of pictures on them, not more than three windows, tables with white tablecloths...

Hayley came before me but I wasn't late, for the first time in forever. She was sitting on a chair looking at the menu. She wore black skinny jeans and loose maroon tank top, black leather jacket with lace on the sleeves and some black leather ankle boots.

"How are you today?" – I said as I sat next to her.

She put down the menu and looked at me with a smile.

"Happy" – she said with a bright spark in her eyes.

"Good. I am glad"- I said and silence filled the air. It wasn't awkward, but quite the opposite. I noticed that I tend to feel that way only around my parents. And Ian.

"So why did you want to talk about?"- Hayley said breaking the silence.

"I have been thinking about why I... well, why I grow up in a different family and something just doesn't add up" – I said looking at her. She flinched.

I noticed the flash of confusion, or some emotion that I have been seeing every time I ask this question. I describe it as fear of the truth that you cover up with confused look.

"What I told you is..." – she started saying with a nervous smile. I cut her off.

"A lie. I am young not stupid, you seem to confuse those two a lot"

"The truth will hurt", she said firmly.

"Truth I will get over, but I will not forgive a lie and you did just admit that it was a sham", I said as got up and raised my tone. As I did that I realized everybody was staring at me so I sat back down and said: "So, for heaven's sake just tell me the truth"

"It is not on me to say it!" – she said finally. I know I should've stayed and listened, but me being me I did not. I flashed outside to the park.

I started walking up and down many times. I thought about what to do, how everybody is lying to me and stuff, you know. As I walked up for the hundredth time, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around just to see Danielle.

"I know what you have been thinking about, and I can answer your question" – she said leading me slowly to sit on a bench.

"How do you..."

"I found out from your grandma, she knows the whole story" – she said as I got up and started walking away when I heard her voice again.

"And to prepare you, your father was the cause of it all"

When I heard that I used my vamp speed to get to grandma's.

I came there and just stood in front of the doors, playing with my fingers.

A lot has happened between us and some things can't be fixed. I just hope that this isn't one of those things. I really do. I mean I had known her for a short time, but when you're with some people you just feel like you're home. She was a bit over board but so was I.

I could bet she wanted to tell me that story tonight. That's why I didn't let Danielle talk. I wanted to hear it from her mouth.

When I finally collected all the courage I placed my hand on the handle and pushed it with hesitation.

"Grandma, where are you?" – I said as I started looking around that dark apartment opening all the doors.

Suddenly I heard her voice but it was weird like she sounded younger. I figured that voice was coming from the living room.

I entered the room and saw videotape with her voice. I smiled. Not a second after that I felt liquid on my hand. I looked at it and it was blood.

I was scared like never in my life as I looked up. Horrifying picture of my dead grandma came to my eyes. There were cuts all over her. I could see she suffered a lot from her widely opened eyes.

I gulped as started walking backwards until I hit the wall.

Tears just started rolling down my face. I couldn't understand. None of this made sense. She was gone, dead?! No, no, no. That is not possible. This couldn't happen. I couldn't lose someone. Not again.

Unknown POV

"We should wait" – man's voice said.

"No! We strike when she is weakest! We strike when she is on her knees. WE STRIKE NOW!"
