Zoe looked aghast but I just kept crying- my emotions were everywhere.

"Thank you," Joe whispered to me as he held me in a tight hug. "I really appreciate it. However I'm at a bit of a cross roads what to do now,"

Zoe didn't say a word just stood watching me crying into Joe. I was really confused. I didn't know if I was doing the right thing or not.

"Did he hurt you?" Zoe asked.

"No, he never has and he never would!" I replied through the sobs. My eyes were clouded up from all of the tears. "I'll stay here one more night then you need to get away!" I whispered to Joe.

"I can't leave you," Joe whispered. "You're my sister."

"Im not," I cried.

"Joe," Zoe said still standing in the doorway. "Please tell me you looked after her."

"Of course I did!" He yelled.

"She's family!" Zoe replied.

"I want to make you all proud and she was helping me do that! You only put me down!" Joe began. He started welling up so I hugged him tighter to fight his tears.

"Sh, it's ok," I whispered to him. "Let's go downstairs and sort things out.

We headed down the creaky staircase and into the living area where me and Joe sat on the sofa and Zoe sat on one of the chairs.

"What now?" Zoe asked.

For a few moments we sat in silence. Then Joe spoke up.

"I'm going to flee, I'm not telling you where but I'm going."

"No, Joe please don't." I sighed.

"The police are after me there is nothing I can do! I'm going to the bathroom!" Joe yelled before heading back up the stairs leaving me and Zoe alone.

"You would tell me if he hurt you," she whispered.

"Of course I would!" I sighed. "He's a good person you know."

"He's not," she replied. Unable to make eye contact she kept her focus down.

We continued to sit in silence when suddenly Joe ran down the stairs with a huge bag over his shoulder.

"Joe where are you-" I asked but before I could finish he was out the door.

Joe was leaving us.
