"Here put this on," Joe nudged me gently.

My hand and elbow were numb and I could feel my eyes dropping. I must have fallen to sleep in the car ride. Joe appeared to be passing me a hat or something and some glasses.

"Why?" I murmured half asleep.

"Because we need a hotel and we don't want them to recognise us!"

We pulled up at a cheap overnight hotel which looked like a premier inn or something but I was too tired to figure out what it was.

"Are we staying here just tonight?" I asked as I began placing the beanie on and adjusting the sunglasses.

"I don't know yet," he sighed.

"But we do we do? We are trapped!"

"No, I am trapped you can go home!" Joe said.

I knew he was right. I could go home at any time and leave him. I could leave him to be in a mess and fend for himself and I could go back to the life I once had. But I couldn't do that to Joe.

I couldn't have that guilt on my shoulders.

"I won't do that," I mumbled.

"Seriously," he turned to me and looked me in the eye. "Please let me take you home,"

"No!"

"Stay here with me just tonight then let me take you home tomorrow."

"I'll think about it."

I knew I didn't want to leave him, I knew I couldn't leave him but if I continued with Joe my life was destined for a downward slope. I had no where to go, I had to wear a disguise everywhere we did go and Joe was always on the run.

We were never safe.

"Think about it properly! Consider it! Now come on let's go in and get a room," he said as he slipped on his sunglasses.

We headed out and into the hotel. For some reason I was nervous. For a number of reasons really.

What if we got caught and they recognised Joe? He would be sent to prison and I would be sent home.

What is they asked for id? They would realise who we were!

What if we ran out of money, then our problems would escalate.

Was this really how I wanted to spend my life?
