/!\ Darren's POV /!\

Flashes were everywhere on the streets, but all I cared about was the questions running through my mind. 'Is she gonna be okay?' 'What is she accused of?' 'What can I do to help her?'. But at that moment, I didn't have any answers to any of these questions. I was so shocked by how our picture perfect evening turned so wrong. Crazy how things can change in five minutes, heck, seconds.

Jen ran out of the building and had to see the same thing as me. Y/n, in the backseat of a LAPD car, going away. Jen looked at it desperately, out of breath. "So you're not gonna do anything about this?!" she screamed angrily at me. My eyes somehow were still glued on the blue and red lights slowly slipping away from me. "I-I-I..." I stuttered, not able to do anything else. Jen groaned and ran back upstairs. 'Take care of her' I heard y/n saying again.

And I clicked. I turned my head to the building but Jen wasn't there anymore. If I couldn't protect my girlfriend at the moment, I still had to take care of her sister. I closed the gate behind me, to stop any paps from doing more damage. As I was about to go up the stairs again, Jen ran past me. "Wait!" I ran after her. She went to the garage and tried to find something. "Jen! Please calm down. We have to talk this out" I tried to stop her. "Bullshit! You talk if you want. I'll go help her" Jen answered. She looked angry, confused and worried. Some feelings I never saw on her face. She finally found what she was looking for: y/n's car. She opened it and got into the driver's seat. "No no no no no!" I warned her and put myself behind the car so she couldn't get the car out. "Get the fuck out of my way, Darren!" she screamed angrily. "Jen, please hear me out, okay? We're gonna help her. But first we need to get there without having an accident, alright?" I tried to explain. I saw her glancing at me from the rearview mirror, then she switched off the ignition. I breathed out in relief.

I walked slowly to the driver side of the car, my fast heartbeat stuck in my chest. I opened the door to see her hands still on the wheel. She was looking straight ahead with no expression whatsoever, besides the tear that ran on her face. "She's the only thing I have left" she almost whispered. I sighed. I put a hand on her shoulder, and surprisingly, she got out and refuged herself in my arms. I hugged her back. "Everything is gonna be okay, Jen. I promise" I said as I tried to hold back my tears. Lord, please make sure I don't have to break this promise.
