Chapter 9 – In and Out
JC's P.O.V
Margie. She's... I don't know so different but in a good way. The way someone is when they don't give a shit about what other people think of them who are so laid back and nice.
We're on our way to In and Out to get dinner for us, Winnie, and the boys. We've been listening to the radio which has been playing a lot of boring songs until SoMo's Kings and Queens comes on.
Margie screams, “Oh my god! This is my favorite song!” I laugh, glancing at those bright wide open eyes of hers. She catches my gaze for what feels like 10 minutes but is only for a moment before she turns up the radio and starts singing along to the music,
There goes the sun
Here comes the fun
Drop that bass and pop that trunk
Rollin on up
Stepping on out
It's our night let's live it up
You got the lights
I got the love
Tap that keg
And fill my cup
It's our life it's our choice
Turn up the beat and drop that noise
I gently push on the brake pedal when we reach a red light. I lean back into my seat while Margie does some weird hand gesture or dance move I'm really not sure and keeps singing at the top of her lungs.
When the song ends, I've pulled into the parking lot of In and Out, I quickly stop the car and open the car door, letting in the cool California night air. I run around to the passenger side and open the door to let Margie out. She unbuckles her seatbelt and grins at me as I hold out my hand and pull her out. She stumbles a little, taking a step forward to steady herself, grabbing onto my arms with each of her hands, looking up at me, blushing.
Laughing at herself, “I told you when I first met you and I'll tell you again, I am such a clutz!” she says, straightening up.
I looking into her eyes, “I know, that's one of the things I love about you.” realizing what I just said, I quickly clear my throat. “Lets go.” gesturing toward the restaurant, while taking out my keys and locking up the car.
“JC?” Margie asks as we push open and doors to In and Out, breathing in the scent of hamburger buns and sweet tomato ketchup. “Yeah Marg?” I reply. “Shouldn't we text Winnie and the boys what they want?” She laughs while I facepalm “Yeah I think that would be a good idea. I'll text the boys and you text Winnie?” She nods, pulling out her Iphone while I do the same. I put in my passcode and make a group message with Con da bon and Rickayy asking them what they want.
When everyone decides on their order we walk up to the cashier and place our orders to-go. When I'm placing mine and the boys order I can see the cashier who looks around 19 and has a tattoo sleeve on each arm checking Margie out.
After we finished placing our order, Margie goes to get our drinks, as she walks far enough away that she can't hear us, he leans in closer to my ear and says “So whats the deal with that hot chick, huh?She single? She would back a nice sex toy. I mean look at that ass. Could you give me her number?” I take a step back, slapping two $20 dollar bills on the counter “If you think of women as sex toys then you are no more than a fucking scumbag.” I say “keep the change.” I mutter, grabbing the bag of food.
As I walk towards Margie trying to cool off a little, I smile at her as she walks over to me, carrying the bag in one hand I slide the other hand around her waist from the side. I can tell she tenses up a little but relaxes eventually as we walk out the door towards the car. She leans her head on my shoulder. I think I'm in love with her. I just don't know how tell her.
